the dog ate my smaller sized paperback copy of this book some time ago. this one is large, easy to read and there are no doggy hunks taken out of it. it's one of the Frugal Gourmet's best publications and the recipes are well explained and easy to follow. i'm an experienced cook, but i would purchase this for any novice who wants to learn how to cook American comfort food.
