The Fruit of Her Hands: Respect and the Christian Woman Kindle Edition

4.6 4.6 out of 5 stars 433 ratings

Imagine where the Church would be today if the men in it were respected as they ought to be by their wives. What power would God unleash through godly men who were respected in their homes?

In this short book, Nancy Wilson exhorts wives to stop focusing on their husbands' problems and shortcomings and to look at their own responsibilities and learn the contentment which the Bible continually exhorts us to.

This book is part of the Canon Press series of books on the family, which has helped many people trying to deal with the on the ground messes that come with sinners living under the same roof. This book on marriage for women reminds us to keep our eyes fixed on what the Bible defines as our duties and not on the modern lies which flatter us.

Started a mommy book club with some friends and have been working our way through lots of different (usually faith based) mom/wife/ homemaker books. This has been one of my favorites and might even be my favorite author so far. Super succinct and insightful, doesn’t mince words (she takes your lack of “free time” as a mom seriously!). Even in working to correct bad thinking or actions she always points back to the grace of Christ. So many things that I have taken to heart in correction for myself and yet this book leaves me feeling so refreshed and filled up to love my husband, children and care of my home even better, not as a burden.

I have read almost all of the books that Nancy (and her daughters) have written. I am always happy to see the conversational style of writing that Nancy uses. I think that this book makes a good applications of the spiritual and practical duties of Christian wives and mothers. Although, I do understand that the entire Wilson family is frequently under speculation, I have found good use of their literature on biblical roles of men and women!

God has a blueprint for how we are to live our lives and most of our problems are a result for not following the most basic of his principles. I believe the state of our world today is the result of men and women not fulfilling these rolls. Nancy write a matter-of-fact, non- condemning, encouraging reminder of who we are to be as Christian women.

Even though I am 68 years old, the Lord led me to read this book. He knew that I would find gems on each page. Reading this book has enriched and blessed my life, and I learned a few things even at my age. Read this book Christian ladies and receive the blessings that await you. I know that it will richly bless you!

Being a Christian wife perfectly is not possible but humbling ourselves to try being a wife biblically is. Nancy Wilson speaks hard truths to women today that most likely have not been taught much less even considered such things. Read her words, ask the Lord to humble you & challenge you to apply what she describes here for us; what it ought to look like to live as a biblical wife unto God, unto our husbands & and before our children and the world to see Gods goodness lived out. What would the church, the world be like if husbands and wives lived as He said to in His scriptures? -Sarah Anglen

5.0 out of 5 stars Book is excellent, but my copy was backwards

‘The Fruit of Her Hands’ was excellent and exceeded my expectations as far as the quality of what was written. Very challenging and well written.
However, my copy is completely backwards. When I open the cover, I’m brought to the last page of the book. I have to go to the back of the book and read back to front.
If the book content was just mediocre, I’d never have finished it for this reason, and while dealing with that was frustrating, it was worth the read by far.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wisdom for every woman
Reviewed in Canada on October 14, 2019
This book is a wonderfully freeing for anyone who will read with the prayerful consideration of Scripture and not the current cultural teachings of many worldly and even Christian teachers. Nancy paints the picture of rest for each woman within the beauty of her role. I will recommend this book to all women, and know it will not be received well by many, but my prayer is that at some point, God will use this work in each woman’s life, who does read it, including mine.
Thank you Mrs. Wilson for your courage and love for both God, your husband, your family, and me.
