FRUITS OF EDEN
HERBALISM AND THE OCCULT
TARL WARWICK
Review by Roy Murry, Author
Warwick, better known as Styxhexenhammer666 of Youtube.com fame for his commentary on a wide variety of subjects, video voice comes through clear and accurate in his writing. His detail explanations and extensive vocabulary are humorous at times while being historically understandable when he describes an herb and its origin.
Until reading this conglomeration of plants and their usage, I never looked around in the green section of the supermarket - I am a male product of the baby boom generation and eat what others cooked. Now, I will indulge in some of the herbs mention in Styx's index, Chapter X, which are fully explained by category in prior chapters.
This listing is comprehensive and enjoyable to read unlike a textbook on the subject: plants used to retain health; used for working curses; used in love and lust spells; and others. Funny: I didn't know eating radishes was good at enhancing male sex drive in some cultures. I would have consumed more in my youth. LOL
That example and other antidotal information about the green world around us, Styx educates the reader. I, for one, will go back and read my notes taken while learning and laughing as I consumed the herbal essence of this work.

As a self-learning and self-practicing herbalist, even if I am still at an apprentice level, I absolutely loved reading this! Along with quenching my interest for the history of the occult, this information has helped me expand my knowledge on the medicinal flora I'm already growing in my garden! If you are a learner of the occult, a botanist/herbalist, or just a "green thumb" with a garden, you will expand your knowledge and practice with the important information in this book, I assure you.

The information on occult and medicinal aspects on the plants is very cut and dry - perfectly straightforward. This is more of an alchemist's handbook, in a sense, than a work on what some might consider the flashier end of the occult. As most of Warwick's personal works, it is very grounded - the information presented is condensed to its most useful form. This is a handbook on plants and herbs, and a very, very rich one at that.

I've been putting in extensive kitchen herb gardens for the past decade so I am well versed in the various culinary properties of each plant. But I was only vaguely aware of the secondary uses for medicinal and occult usage. It was great fun to read and learn about them. And you don't have to want to make or use any of the herbal remedies or occult spells to enjoy the book. All and all an enjoyable book. Two enthusiastic thumbs up

There is a treasure-trove of information in this book, and anyone interested in herbalism or the occult should enjoy it. The author is clearly enthusiastic about the subject material and includes lots of interesting and valuable side notes with the main topics discussed. The cover art and quality of the illustrations is also nice. The hobby gardener should not pass this up, much less the occult enthusiast.

Good book with decent information for those who need some instruction. I didn't care much for the title itself because there is too much stigma attached to a buzz word like "occult". However, this will be a nice addition to my library. It is a good primary for those who are starting out on the path.

I brought this book for my wife who needed some inspiration regarding an art project with plants. Not only did it help and educate her and me on many different aspects of the plants and flowers, it is also a very comprhensive and easily understood read. As a side comment my wife did say she wished many others would write in this style. Totally enjoyable book with some great illustrations and an excellent reference book.
