Be forewarned that I tend to have to ask my son-in-law, who has a doctorate in engineering, to explain some of the humor of Futurama, but it n-e-v-e-r prevents my enjoyment of the show.

I love it when the writer(s) of Futurama deal with gender! I imagine they must have experienced marriage for such a keen look into Hermes and Labarbara's relationship in this episode. And they're equal opportunity offenders, so don't worry there won't be shots taken at the opposite gender. ;-)
This episode is no exception to the show's typical delivery of their hat trick of wit, thought provocation, and plain laugh out loud funniness.

My husband and I both burst out laughing at Hermes' remark, "Did you know there are more than two feelings?"

People compare Futurama to The Simpsons (and I do like The Simpsons), but for my money, Futurama wins hands down.
Treat yourself to some smiles and don't be surprised to find yourself tilting your head saying, "hmmmm....".

I suspect that when this episode comes to DVD & BD it will be packaged as VOLUME 6 (who knows?). Anywho, I just saw REINCARNATION last night and wish to get my two cents in (maybe that's all it is worth)...but I just wish to state that of all the episodes from the current season (Sept. 2011), this one tops them all. They definitely saved the best for last.
"GOOD NEWS, EVERYONE"... REINCARNATION is a trilogy of sorts with each segment celebrating three distinct animated styles (Fleischer, 70's video & Japanamation). Each unique story is brilliantly scripted and as quick witted as any they have done to date. I hope the writers and animators will keep this episode in mind as a model of how good the series can be when they sit down to create the next season.
I will not give anything away (story-wise) except to say there is a diamond encrusted comet in each and Stephen Hawking has a guest spot in one segment (see, I told ya...two cents worth)...
Just see this episode for yourself and see if we don't agree. ENJOY

We begin with yet another iteration of Panucci's famous "FRY, PIZZA GOIN OUT. COME ON!?!!" followed by a classic example of Fry's stupidity and boyish naiveté. (see I.C. Weiner). Finally realizing he has been in a dead end job for over 1000 years he opts to do something about it. The episode explodes with criminals both past and future (referencing the Tom Cruise flick, Minority Report), high speed (we're talking 15 over the speed of light) chases and Schrodinger known for his nobel prize, cats and drug smuggling. Unique characters are introduced (the gender role-reversing Chief of Police O'Manahan) and old favorites are expanded (Officer Earl). Bender attempts another crazy heist and the Hedonism Bot makes his classic, less than ambiguous advances on pretty much everyone. A formidable mix of sex, poop and non-Newtonian physics jokes.

It is always silly to say "best episode of the season" before the season is complete but this one certainly brings out things the others lack. Plenty of timely humor (cracks at fast food AND the local/organic craze) plenty of outrageous slapstick comedy (Bender losing and arm to a game of catch, highly corrosive pets, offensive cigar smoking) and some good lines:

"He's a vegetarian, and he's not even preachy about it!"

They have at least put season eight on a better footing with this episode.

I don't know about the quality. Yes it is in HD, however, sometimes the voice doesn't match the video. It's not my PC, it's the frames per second it was encoded in. As the video progresses, the further out of sync it is. Since it is a protected file, there's no way to correct the f/s issue.

But this is such a great show, that it is hardly noticeable.

the new stuff is just as good as the old stuff, and in some cases even better. Overclockwise? Law and Oracle? Silence of the Clamps? brilliant stuff, and that's just the beginning. amazing season.

i love this show, been watching since 1999.

And this one wasn't any different. It's very worth watching. It had its own plot but it also managed to spoof the Tom Cruise movie "Minority Report" in a way that wasn't insulting (though I wouldn't have minded if it had been). The ending was great.

I've found this episode pretty hilarious. They've crammed a lot of really great visual humor into this episode. My favorite was seeing that the Doctor is one of the people that's been swallowed by the whale!
