Fuck Yeah, Video Games: The Life and Extra Lives of a Professional Nerd Hardcover – November 26, 2019
Purchase options and add-ons
As Daniel Hardcastle careers towards thirty, he looks back on what has really made him happy in life: the friends, the romances… the video games. Told through encounters with the most remarkable – and the most mind-boggling – games of the last thirty-odd years, Fuck Yeah, Video Games is also a love letter to the greatest hobby in the world.
From God of War to Tomb Raider, Pokémon to The Sims, Daniel relives each game with countless in-jokes, obscure references and his signature wit, as well as intricate, original illustrations by Rebecca Maughan. Alongside this march of merriment are chapters dedicated to the hardware behind the games: a veritable history of Sony, Nintendo, Sega and Atari consoles.
Joyous, absurd, personal and at times sweary, Daniel's memoir is a celebration of the sheer brilliance of video games.

sometimes the shells get stuck together and require a lot of force and often the book that you have precariously balanced closes and you lose your spot.
sure you can crack the spine and force the book to stay open, but you are ultimately going to end up with pistachio dust in the creases of your pages.
I once knew a guy that saved those pistachios that had no openings, that appeared to be sealed shut, for over a year just to put them in a jar and give them to someone for the holidays. That was very devious.
I assume eating any other nut That needed to be shelled while reading would also be difficult, but I prefer pistachios. I once had a bag of pistachios that came without the shell, but they got stale after a few days and I've never bought a bag that were shelled again.
Other highlights is his chapter about Skyrim where he an his companion slaughter the students at Hogwarts and the chapter about Kerball Space Program which always has me laughing out loud.

Dan's commentary, intro and outro music have soundtracked my high school years and beyond (since the recent return of his old introduction I have psychologically regressed back to 13 years old, I love every second of it to this day.
My Dad on the other hand has never played a game, or had any interest in them, but is interested all things creative (films and books mainly) and talking about them. He has LOVED the audiobook, only stopping his laughter to make sure he didn't miss any of the stories being told. I really think the book has inspired a great amount of interest in this new world for my Dad. Whether you know anything about Dan or not, the audio book is well worth listening to. Whether you know anything about games or not, this book is well worth reading.
