From the manufacturer

The X-H1 is the highest performing camera in the X Series lineup, with a newly-designed robust and durable body. The X-H1 incorporates a range of useful features that support shooting in various scenarios by professional photographers, videographers and experienced amateur photographers. These features include not only the first-ever X Series camera with 5-axis in-body image stabilization, which has a maximum of 5.5 stops, but also a flicker reduction mode which enhances the quality of indoor sports photography.

X-Trans CMOS III Sensor

The FUJIFILM X-H1 features the 24.3MP APS-C sensor "X-Trans CMOS III", which delivers images with enriched depth. The use of aperiodic color filter array minimizes moiré and false colors even without an optical low-pass filter. When combined with XF lenses, specifically designed for this series of cameras, the sensor achieves outstanding descriptive performance.

X-Processor Pro

The "X-Processor Pro" is a processing engine that draws out the maximum capability of the "X-Trans CMOS III" high-performance sensor. Its use of large built-in memory and advanced processing power boost the camera's speed and precision performance in interval shooting, shutter release time lag, AF, continuous shooting, live view display, etc. The processor also supports the Boost Mode for the vertical power booster grip, VPB-XH1, enhancing the camera's performance to another level

Autofocus

The FUJIFILM X-H1 boasts autofocus performance with enhanced capability to track a moving subject. With 91 focus points (up to 325 points), the camera has a phase detection AF area that covers 50% (side to side) and 75% (top to bottom) of the frame to achieve fast and accurate autofocus. The phase detection's AF range has been expanded by 1.5 stops from the previous 0.5EV to -1EV, while the minimum aperture requirement is also improved from F8 to F11. Enhanced AF-C performance during zooming means the camera can handle sports with erratic subject movements, and capture a subject with fine textures such as a distant animal, with an advanced level of precision.

AF-C Custom Setting

The FUJIFILM X-H1 offers three user-adjustable parameters for determining focusing characteristics to make it easier to accurately track a moving subject in the AF-C Mode. There are presets to suit different types of scenes, or you can determine your own custom setting.

SET 1 - Basic

SET 2 - Ignoring obstacles

SET 3 - Accelerating / decelerating subjects

SET 4 - Subjects that suddenly come into the frame

SET 5 - Erratically moving subjects

SET 6 - Custom

AF Operation Systems

The FUJIFILM X-H1 features a Focus Lever for quickly changing focus point selection in eight directions. You can intuitively move the focus point while keeping your eye on the viewfinder (or by touch panel operation on the rear LCD monitor). The dedicated "AF-ON" button is positioned where your right thumb is placed, so that the focus point can be adjusted with the thumb, while the index finger can concentrate on delicate shutter release actions.

Tough and Durable Camera Body

The FUJIFILM X-H1's body is made of magnesium alloy, 25% thicker than previous models. The lens mount's structure has been revised to achieve a compact and lightweight design that is also of high precision and more resistant to shock or damage than other models in the X Series. It is also resistant to dust and moisture, capable of working at temperatures as low as -10°C. The grain size of the exterior coating has been improved to achieve scratch resistance equivalent to 8H surface hardness.

New In-Body Image Stabilization

For the first time in the X Series, the FUJIFILM X-H1 has an image stabilization mechanism built in. A three-axis accelerometer, a three-axis gyro sensor and a dedicated dual processor work together to carry out processing and correction approximately 10,000 times every second to achieve image stabilization performance with advanced speed and precision. The correction is based on five axes (up and down / right and left pitch, yaw angle and optical axis rotation) to achieve more than five-stop (up to the equivalent of 5.5 stops* ) image stabilization when the camera is fitted with any FUJINON lens that does not feature the optical image stabilization functionality. This complements FUJIFILM X-H1's performance in low-light conditions or when shooting active scenes.

*When using the XF35mmF1.4 R

New Feather-Touch Shutter Button

The FUJIFILM X-H1 is equipped with the new feather-touch shutter button that can respond to delicate shutter release actions to capture all photographic opportunities. When combined with the firm-hold design of the grip, the shutter button controls camera shake for fast-response operability.

Electronic Viewfinder

The FUJIFILM X-H1 has a large, class-leading 3.69-million-dot high-resolution electronic viewfinder with the magnification ratio of 0.75x, boasting a display time lag of just 0.005 sec, and a refresh rate of up to 100fps. It is approximately 1.6 times brighter than previous models, enabling subject capture and focus adjustment with greater precision. The eye sensor, for automatically switching between rear monitor display and viewfinder display, responds around 2 times faster than previous models for enhanced usability.

Rear LCD

The rear 3.0-inch 1.04-million-dot LCD monitor can be tilted by 90 degrees upwards, 45 degrees downwards and 60 degrees to the right for easy high-angle / low-angle / vertical low-angle shooting. The use of the capacitive touch panel facilitates intuitive touch-screen operations for focus point selection, etc.

Film Simulation

With Film Simulations, you can apply colors and tones that match your artistic intentions to your pictures, as if choosing different special effect photographic films. The FUJIFILM X-H1 comes with sixteen Film Simulation modes, which Fujifilm has uniquely created based on the color-presentation philosophy and know-how the company has developed through more than 80 years of photo film production.

New Film Simulation "ETERNA"

The FUJIFILM X-H1 features the "ETERNA" mode, a new Film Simulation mode suitable for video recording, simulating the output of cinematographic films. Characterized by subdued color presentations and rich shadow tones, this mode can be used at 400% Dynamic Range (equivalent to approximately 12 stops) to attain video recording with a high degree of perfection while substantially reducing color-grading workload in post processing.

DCI 4K(4096x2160)

The X-H1 supports the digital cinema aspect ratio (17:9), and records high-quality video at a high bit rate of 200 Mbps. You can use the highest ISO 25600, a low shutter speed of 1/4 sec, and even Film Simulation modes in video, enabling diverse video expressions. A premium sound microphone (24bit / 48KHz) is built in, which means you don't need extra equipment to record sound in high-resolution quality.

High dynamic range "F-Log" log-gamma option

The dynamic range "F-Log" log-gamma option* is available for recording and uncompressed output to external equipment. It supports "color grading," which refers to post-shooting processing of colors and tones for artistic videography. The long-awaited addition of the Film Simulation lookup table (for ETERNA) has increased freedom in post-processing.

* The color gamut is ITU-R BT.2020 compliant.

High-speed video recording

The FUJIFILM X-H1 supports 120p / 100p high-speed video recording (Full HD, 2x / 4x / 5x slow motion), creating slow-motion video with an artistic impact, broadening your scope of videographic expressions.

Silent video operation

The Silent Video Operation function allows you to control settings such as aperture, shutter speed, ISO sensitivity and white balance with silent touch-panel operations on the rear monitor, preventing the camera from picking up operation noise from buttons and dials during video recording.

Remote shooting

The FUJIFILM X-H1 supports remote shooting, using a smartphone or tablet*. You can use your smart device to check preview, control shooting settings, and view / transfer photographs taken.

Wireless communications

The FUJIFILM X-H1 can be paired up with a computer, tablet or smartphone via Bluetooth** to maintain constant connectivity for automatic transfer of photographs as you shoot.

* You must install the free app "FUJIFILM Camera Remote" on your smart device to use this function.

** The Bluetooth word mark and logos are registered trademarks owned by the Bluetooth SIG, Inc. and any use of such marks by FUJIFILM Corporation is under license.

Flickering reduction

The FUJIFILM X-H1 has the Flickering Reduction function for controlling exposure and color instability caused by flickering of AC-powered fluorescent lights. The function detects light flicker rate and automatically controls shutter timing to coincide with peak brightness, thereby achieving exposure stability in indoor sports photography (except when using the electronic shutter).

    Praises for the H1
The new Fuji X H1 mirrorless camera is a wonder in a small package. As a long time Nikon DSLR shooter, I am slowly making the transition to the smaller and less expensive Fuji line. These Fuji cameras are well made and generate a sharp and high quality image. It appears that Fuji along with Sony are the new innovators in the digital photography market. They have taken the mirrorless cameras to new heights in a very short time. There is an improved video function over the XT2, but I don't use this unit for videos. I have a pro camcorder for that. They did add a "tally light" feature. Good when you are using the camera and not sure its recording. Not sure where this camera video thing is going to end. I suppose the Smart phones are to blame. The wireless photo transfer feature has improved over the XT2. When you first start up the camera its directs you to use the QR code to connect with your cellphone. You can skip this, but it does a lot of the initial input, like date and time, etc.If you are a Fuji H1 user, and you are reading this. Perhaps you can explain why after formatting the SD card, the file opens in your computer with no camera title. Most all other companies, after the formatting process, adds the model name of your camera. When you are a busy photographer like me, and you work with lots of SD cards and files, you want to know. VERY ANNOYING.I am going to add before I go on, that some of these features are purposely left out, like poor battery life, so you can continue buying their improved products.I purchased the H1 while still keeping the XT2 to make comparisons. I will sell the XT2 very soon. There are subtle and obvious differences. The X H1 is about 20% larger. It fits well in the hand. If it were not for the now poor battery life on the H1, I would not even consider a battery grip. The battery drains like a faucet. And of course that is because the H1, has the new IBIS. In body image stabilization. You can turn it off, but why do that. It comes equipped with 5 axis image stabilization. There is an obvious internal whirling sound, that is the IBIS system. On Fuji lenses that don't have IS, this could help in lower light shoots. It also depends on which lens you have and your shooting settings.I can see some firmware updates fairly soon. The menu features slows or does not respond at times. You have to hit the shutter or turn off the camera. The flash on this unit works well. (its a tiny external flash, that is provided). I had to return my original XT2, because the built flash did notwork. I have several Fuji lenses and they all seem to work well with the new H1 body. I did turn off the IS on some of my lenses to see if it makes a difference. The answer is, yes it makes a difference. Having two motors that stabilize the lens is best. I have shot down to 1/5 of second hand held. Wow!The optical view finder on the H1 is a joy to use. There are now choices of electronic and manual shutter combinations. So you don't have to switch to manual shutter when using a flash, like on the XT2. That is a big deal for me. Actually, there are four combinations. Good one. The new touch screen is good. A little slow in response. Its a very tactile feature when you want to add your own copyright information. The top camera display is very handy for me. I can see at a glance what my settings are. The new location for the exposure compensation has been reduced to a button near the shutter button. But again its an easy move to change. The grip is excellent for medium and large hands. Although it does rub the inside of my thumb a bit, not sure why. This section is for the again excellent shutter release. Soft to the touch, no tether button spot like the XT2. Easy, soft and accurate. How do they do that? The on and off switch is a bit dodgy. Its small and hard to reach and activate. Use your nail to turn on and off. Oh before I forget. If you want a complete quiet shutter you must be in "electronic shutter" only. Any combination won't do it. I like it for street photography that way.Image quality so far is excellent. Great color tones on objects, people, and pets. That is one of the reasons i switched to Fuji. The color renderings straight from the camera are hard to believe. It compares to some of the Leica camera models.I gave it 4 stars because the battery drains quickly. It was good for the XT2, but for the H1, Fuji should have created a newer high capacity battery. I have said before and you have to notice with all these reviews and mirrorless camera ads, no emphasis on the battery life. This is very annoying. Remember no battery... no camera..., no photos... no $, lets go home. A Leica battery can maybe shoot 400 shots, but it cost $250 each. Ridiculous! Come on man, Japan, China, anyone, make a mirrorless battery that will last 800-900 shots.(Below a photo of my XT2 taken with my new H1)See you on instagram, @afshutterphotos, @monoviewer, Thank you

Reviewed in the United States on November 19, 2019
Style: Camera OnlySet: w/ Booster GripVerified Purchase
I have been a fan of Fujifilm cameras and lenses, and moved from the Sony A7 cameras to the X-T10 (mainly due to lens cost and size of full frame vs. crop). Since then I have owned the X100, X100T, X-T20, X-T3, and now the X-H1. At its current pricing, the X-H1 is an absolute bargain. Some thoughts:

    1) This camera is BIG. Especially after using the tiny X-T20 for quite some time. This might be a negative to some, especially if you have smaller hands, but I actually quite like the size, especially when pairing this camera with larger lenses like the XF 50-140, or even the Viltrox 85mm. But know that this is a big camera, with a nice deep grip (much larger grip than any of their other cameras).

    2) IBIS is excellent. I have gotten usable handheld footage from this camera with the XF 50-140, and sharp low-light pictures handheld with slow shutter speeds (with still subjects, of course). Low light images of moving subjects will still be blurry, obviously.

    3) I have read many complaints about the missing exposure compensation dial, but that is a silly complaint. With the latest firmware, you can set one of the back dials to adjust the exposure (without holding any additional buttons). This really shouldn't stop you from buying this camera.

    4) Autofocus is generally good, but definitely NOT on the level of the X-T3. If you have used the X-T20 or the X-T2, the autofocus performs more or less the same. The X-T3 (and I assume the newer cameras like the X-T30 or X-pro3) have superior autofocus speed, and much better face/eye detect. So if autofocus is your priority over IBIS, I would recommend the X-T3 or newer. However, the autofocus of the X-H1 (and X-T20) has always been good enough for me.

    5) Yes, the battery life is terrible. If you are using this without the grip, make sure you have a few spare batteries on hand. Not really a big deal to me, as I always carry a few spares but I know it is important to many. Although I will say it was nice to be able to use all of my old batteries from the previous cameras.

    6) Eterna is awesome. I shoot with the default Provia film simulation most of the time for stills, with occasional Classic Chrome, but Eterna is amazing for video, especially if you need/want to save time. Videos look great straight out of the camera without much need for tweaking. LOVE IT.

    7) The shutter release is polarizing, and I can see how many people hate it, but I love it. It has a really, REALLY soft touch and is amazingly quiet. It did take some getting used to coming from the X-T20 and the X-T3, but now I really love it.

For what this camera can do, and the fact that it includes the battery grip, it is a crazy good deal. I have the X-T3 as well, and I usually end up carrying the X-H1 with me (although both cameras are exceptional). I avoided this camera for the longest time because of many negative reviews, but I couldn't pass up trying it out when the price dropped a second time. I'm glad I did, because I really love it.

This is a preliminary review and I will share initial impressions.
    1) This camera is significantly larger and heavier than the X-T1. You cannot appreciate the difference from pictures alone. Even though it is larger, it feels good in the hand and balances well with larger lenses. No real complaints about this for the time being.
    2) IBIS is outstanding. It does make an unobtrusive whirring sound but produces a notable increase in sharpness. I was taking pictures while holding the camera in one hand and throwing a frisbee to my dog in the other. In spite of all the motion on my end, the pictures were sharp.
    3) Autofocus is substantially improved over the X-T1. I am actually amazed by the focusing speed, though I have only tested in good light and with a few lenses so far.
    4) I miss the dedicated exposure compensation dial. You can hold down the exposure comp button next to the shutter release at the same time you turn a dial. This works ok for me, but it is hard to adjust quickly without depressing the dial and turning on some other adjustment. Also, you have to keep the exposure comp button held down during the adjustment. I have a feeling, I will get used to this, and if not, the new AE-L button provides an alternative workaround.
    5) I like the spacing and positioning of the buttons on the rear of the camera
    6) The electronic viewfinder is awesome
    7) Image quality is noticeably improved over the X-T1 in my opinion
    8) I have not tested video functionality yet. I purchased this camera because of the IBIS and the improved sensor and autofocus as compared to the X-T1.
    9) As of right now, Capture One does not read the X-H1 raw files. Thankfully, the SOOC jpegs are very good.

Bottom line: In anticipation of purchasing this camera, I decided to put my Fujifilm XT-1 and Sony RX1R ii up for sale. I regretted when the RX1R ii sold, thinking I should have held onto it. That was until I opened the box and tried out this fantastic new camera. Any regrets about selling my other gear evaporated immediately. This is my new primary kit and I love it so far.

    Update #1
    * One reviewer commented on software glitches. I have not experienced any of these, but having owned several FujiFilm cameras, you should rest comfortably knowing that FujiFilm is famous for regular and substantial firmware updates. Any such issues would be quickly rectified.
    * The beauty of the FujiFIlm X-Series platform is two-fold: the combination of outstanding bodies and lenses, and also the ergonomics relating to the use of manual dials. In this regard, the X-H1 took a minor step back by eliminating the dedicated exposure compensation dial.
    * Some complain about battery life. My take on this is to just throw another battery or two into your pocket. The inexpensive aftermarket batteries work just fine, and frankly, have better life than the OEM version.
    * The IBIS is outstanding and this feature alone has justified the purchase for me.
*On1 Photo Raw 2018 does offer a raw converter for the X-H1, but I have found myself using more out of camera jpegs using FujiFilm's excellent color profiles. The results have been great to my eye. I will continue to update, but have no regrets at all so far.

    5.0 out of 5 stars A No-Brainer Upgrade from the X-T1
Reviewed in the United States on March 5, 2018

5.0 out of 5 stars Mejor Camara en Mano

    Excelente compra.
La cámara genera una sensación de siempre quererla tener en la mano, ergonómica de dimensiones preferidas para dos manos lo cual da soporte. Muy pronto aún, pero XH2 será un monstruo.

Read a lot of reviews before making a decision on this camera. Good points includes -IBIS, Xtrans sensor, Xcellent handling and ergonomics. No other fuji models now have this level of ergonomics. It may have been pushed down in specs by the x-t4 or later but no other camera from Fuji can beat the price and ergonomics of this model post Dec 2020. Wait for offers and grab one- you will never regret. Fuji is always none for their colour science which is even better in this one. Raw pics have almost nothing to be done post processing. Love this camera. Will keep it for long. I paid slightly more than a x-t30 . This model was the top in the x line up and may not have a successor too. Feels more like a gfx medium format camera body. It is a Made in Japan model which is not the case with other fuji models - which are made in philippines, china....

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant camera for hybrid shooters

The XH1 is an awesome camera for pro work.

Ive used this on portraiture work and thanks to the x trans III sensor and X Processor Pro chip I can squeeze out the same awesome RAW files and JPEGS as I can from my beloved XT2.

The IBIS (In Body Image Stabilization) is really the only reason I would purchase this for. After a few quick test shots I found that I was able to hand hold in low light circumstances at 1/8th shutter speeds and get rather sharp images. This was an exciting moment.

Even working with models just get them to slowly move and hold still and shooting below 1/50 is plausible now. To be able to shoot with 100 or 200 ISO for ultra clean images in lowlight is incredible.

My hands are rather small so I did find the body a bit too large though (I definitely see why people prefer the smaller and more portable XT2).

The batter life is also noticeably shorter compared to the XT2 but not by a large margin.

All in all I would recommend this camera to dedicated FUJIFILM shooters who have extra cash lying around as this aint cheap.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome Camera!

Incredibly well built, top notch feel and finish. Very comfortable to hold thanks to the very large grip - very much like a DSLR. Everything works as it should and the camera is very customize-able. The EVF is the best I have seen having owned many mirror-less cameras to compare too. Autofocus speed is more than sufficient and the IBIS works great for lenses that do no not have OIS. Very pleased with output photo quality and rivals some of the best FF cameras (although you need good glass). Super happy thus far!

It is a great camera. I switched from Canon to Fuji and I really like it. The picture quality is stunning. Video capabilities are good but not great as they claim. The EVF is excellent and you have so many details available to take a perfect picture. Battery life is bad unless you buy the vertical grip.
