UPDATE 9/17/2010: I wanted to add a couple of notes now that I have been using this light for six months. I had initially given this 5 stars but had to knock off a couple of stars due to some serious issues with the light. The light began staying on all night long when there was no motion - occasionally going off for a second and then coming back on again. Since it had been six months since I installed the light and the light was getting a bit dim I assumed that maybe it was because the batteries were dying. When I opened the door to replace the batteries white water poured out - the water was white due to the moisture inside the light corroding the batteries and they were leaking a lot of acid. It actually burned a little and the batteries were in such bad shape I'm surprised they were even able to turn the light on.Read more ›

I am attaching 6 photos under customers photos that I will be referencing in this review.
The light was somewhat bigger than I imagined based on the stock photo. Its size is 5.5" by 6". The photo shows it in front of the ruler and with a pen next to it for size reference.
The second photo shows the light mounted and activated. It does not provide as much light as my incandescent porch light both in brightness of the light and the area it lights, but it does light the steps which was my reason for getting this extra light.
When I initially opened the package I thought the mounting hardware was missing. Turns out mounting hardware was packed inside of the battery compartment.
In order mount the light, you need to remove the plate in the back of the light fixture. It slides off only in one particular direction and it takes a bit trial and error to find the right angle (direction is not marked on the plate). Once you find the right angle it slides off without effort.
Photo #5 and Photo #6.
The battery holder has metal contacts on the bottom which need to come in contact with the metal springs in the bottom of the battery compartment. I was able to slide the battery in several different ways, so take caution to insert it in a way that forms the proper contact. Instructions do not mention this.
After mounting the batteries and closing the battery cover, I covered the gaps between the cover and the body of the light with tape based on other reviews that reported finding water in the battery compartment.Read more ›

So roughly 3 months later the seals dont stay sealed. Water leaked into the unit. Batteries rusted. And only half the lights work. It rained twice since i had this unit. Read morePublished 1 day ago by DJ Speed
It's pointless when it eats up expensive C batteries every other month. The motion sensor is very sensitive and goes off every 10 minutes or so for absolutely no reason (maybe a... Read morePublished 3 days ago by EPaul
