Mitch and Cody are two very, very real characters from Kindle Alexander's imagination that will stay with you for a very, very long time to come.
Deputy United States Marshal Mitch Knox's character is simply seduction on pages, an angel cast down from heaven sent to tempt humanity for that is exactly how I felt- tempted. Cody warms your heart, this other drop-dead gorgeous charcater "in uniform" thats perfect for Mitch and together they create a seductive story that is now a phenomenon online. Action, romance, passion, smart characters, chills and thrills, great dialogue and a seductive play on words and use of literary devices makes this read one of the most memorable of the last decade. The book is never boring, its rather somewhat swift- moving and electrifying.
This is perfect, icing on cake perfect and its the kind of sultry, spine-tingling kind of read that Kindle's fans adore. Kindle Alexander is no ordinary writer, she is a woman with a mission and that goal is to cement her reputation among the greats- which she is already doing so indelibly- and to make Gay Romance an acceptable genre as any other. Her work is hugely admired and her writing style is real, raw and unrestraint which she mixes with that soft, passionate, intriguing touch.
She continues to build a complex, yet acceptable social society that makes for mesmerizing read and has certainly set the stage for more exhilerating adventures to come. Kindle Alexander is by far the reigning Queen of M/M Romance.
Mitch Knox, dark hair, tats, muscles, 33, in Doc Martens, jeans and t-shirts, not a crisp uniform, but he's good at his job as a US Marshall. The case he's on is a serial killer, hate infused and hard to catch.
Cody Turner, 26, blonde, muscled, a few tattoos is a Texas Trooper who just got promoted to the Mounted Patrol, and his next step is Texas Ranger, his goal. He'll be helping at the family farm on vacation before he starts his new job.
Mitch's friend Colt, is a survivor of the killer, and he and his husband, Jace ask Mitch out to dinner and a club. He's been dancing, rubbing, shirtless, tattoos glowing, and loose, releasing tension. There he sees Cody across the room, and their eyes meet. Cody is watching him, so they talk, dance, and are headed out, when Mitch gets called to work. No worries; they'll find time later. Neither man can forget the other.
Every character in this book is bigger than life, important, and marvelous. This well written story flows along, is never boring, has lots of action, lots of steamy sexiness and truly "un-put-down-able." The sex is so hot, dirty, wild, passionate, emotional and extremely riveting. The investigation has twists, violence, and action, which helps us enjoy the tension and anticipation.
The book is magnificent, no errors, a HEA, and an intro into the next phase of this trilogy is engaging.
The epilogue is great. I LOVED the story, the two MCs, who are so strong, so sizzling, full of passion and perfect for each other.
Highly recommended. ENJOY !
He meets Cody Masters, built, blonde cowboy/trooper hesitant to hookup....but willing to be convinced :). Cody is working his way towards being a Texas Ranger. First hot meeting interrupted...by another attack linked to the serial killer.
Finally, Mitch has permission to officially pursue an investigation.
The story includes challenging collaborations with other law enforcement, many sexy timeouts/mini-breaks for Mitch and Cody, and the two MCs pursuing a rapid pace from passionate attraction to love to HEA. The mystery is an integrated part of this story, mostly for Mitch.
Definitely a romance wrapped in a mystery, which I find much more interesting than just simple romance.
Some ratings on features important to me in mm romance:
Smexy Scale 1-5: 4 (multiple hot interactions, some variation so not too repetitive. Some moments nicely reflect the developing tenderness between the MCs)
Angst Scale 1-5: 1
Humor Scale 1-5:1
Likable MCs 1-5: 4 (2 Law enforcing, career oriented, grown up, generally happy, good looking guys, ready for love...not a lot of misunderstanding or lack of clarity between these two straightforward men.)
One small but persistent issue for me: many times in this story, one or the other of the MCs had "feelings" for the other that they mentally derided as acting 'like a girl.' Hey, girls or boys or men or women who long for their loved one (or cry if they almost die) ain't wrong...but the mental remarks did not come across as complimentary. It was just brief self-talk, but threw me every time....right at moments when the guys were showing us their hearts. Gay romance is all about people loving it up...so no need to make these manly men so squirrelly about "feels"...or at least not squirrelly in this small misogynistic way. Sheesh. I made such a big deal out of it...how "like a non-gender specific immature person."
