The story certainly isn't a traditional romance, but the heart wants what the heart wants, and there was so much love in the relationship of these three.
I adored Hugh. He was so hot and macho, tender and sweet. Lachlan was a bit of a frustration as he has been from the beginning. It was a good thing Beth and Hugh loved him to get their love relationship to work. Lachlan was pretty hot too. When you put the three together, I'm surprised the house was still standing from burning up the sheets.
Beth had to be a very special kind of woman to love two men and not be jealous of their relationship before her. I think the writers knocked the topic of what love and family mean out of the ball park.
There are all kinds of love and I loved this very unusual love story. It was told with dignity and respect for those involved. Oh, but the chemistry between these three was off the charts. The sexual tension was mind blowing. Their relationship was one I could see myself being involved in.
I also liked revisiting the Prime Minister, attending his wedding, and meeting up with Max, his wife, and others from the series. I can't wait for the next book!!
Lachlan has been lusting after Beth not so secretly in all the novels in this series. Everyone knows except for Lachlan that his desire is written all over his face. A year has gone by and he hasn't done anything about it. So Hugh, a man from Lachlan's past that PM Gavin hired for his security even though Lachlan didn't want him to has asked Beth out on a date. Lachlan is definitely not OK with that but he isn't Beth's boss.
This trio experiences the most passionate and kinky relationship. On top of which, they all have baggage they bring that they have to work on. Then there is the problem of being in a trio relationship when all three of them work directly with the PM in the public eye. They can't be known publicly as a trio. Keeping your relationship hidden has a lot of problems too. All these issues are explored with some original and creative twists and turns that will leave you reading long after you should have turned off the light. This book is panty melting good with no cheating and very explicit. If you are OK with that, then this is a must read.
If you haven't read any of the Frisky Beavers books before, Beth is an assistant to Canada's Prime Minister. Lachlan works in security for the Prime Minister and is really and truly the Prime Minister's right hand man for many touchy subjects (mainly his private life). Hugh is a recent addition to the Prime Minister's security detail and someone who had a very close and intimate relationship with Lachlan before Lachlan ran away afraid of what was happening.
Watch them fall for each other and work through any typical "couple" problems. I loved the epilogue!
Hugh becomes part of the PM’s security staff. He and Lachlan have a past that has left both of them hurt. Hugh has an attraction to Beth that he’s not afraid to pursue and Lachlan feels the burn of jealousy. Can the three of them overcome their hurts and the concerns of public scrutiny to be able to see where their attraction leads them?
From the beginning to the two epilogues my eyes were glued to the pages like my life depended on it. Ainsley Booth and Sadie Haller give us page after page of heartbreaking, chest tightening, heart warming, and intensely passionate goodness. Beth, Lachlan and Hugh's love story is one that will move you and one that will give you hope. I enjoyed every single minute of it!
If you are looking for a love story with fun characters, incredibly HOT sex, and just a bit of angst, this book, in fact, the entire Frisky Beavers series is for you.
