You put a lot of hope on these two making it for the long run. You want Luna to get better and overcome her fears. Being deaf isn't a life sentence just because your family acts like you're damaged. I enjoyed this book. It was an easy read yet had some minor spelling errors but it seemed to get better once the book went on. I would recommend this book to friends.
Luna is such a unique heroine. And you immediately find yourself not only rooting for her, but wanting to know more.
The men in her life are crazy supportive. And do their best to help her find her way, even when she feels less than deserving.

I loved how random and chaotic Luna is, she's very unique in a world full of cardboard characters! She's a complicated, often contradictory character, because she doesn't know how to accept/love who she is. She doesn't know where she belongs, or how she's supposed to act. My heart broke for her so many times :( She carried a lot of pain and there were times when it was heavy, but she was also really funny! Sometimes on purpose and sometimes by accident. I laughed out loud a lot, mainly because I couldn't believe some of the things she did. For a shy character, she was also pretty bold. She is obsessed with sex, which was a nice change from the virgin heroine with a manwhore trope. And even with how confident she is with sex, she blushes when she kisses his cheek. I don't know why, but I thought that was adorable! There are definitely layers to Luna's character, and I enjoyed watching Phoenix knock them down (even if he had to get punched in the junk to do it! lol)
It does take a while. This is a f-buddy to more romance, but the actual feelings are more of a slow burn. And when she did start letting him in, it was beautiful. Not just because I enjoyed watching her fall in love with Phoenix, but I loved how she fell in love with herself.
- Phoenix -
*swoon* I loved him!!! Like I mentioned, I loved how he encouraged Luna and that he never wavered once he decided he wanted to be with her. Phoenix isn't a player. He explicitly says that he is a "relationship guy," and he struggles a bit to be casual with Luna. They were both funny at the most random moments. And while I love humor, I also need my swoon! Phoenix delivered! THEN he teaches her dog sign language... stick a freaking fork in me... I was done for when that happened.
It would have been easy for him to get frustrated with Luna because of how closed off she was, but he never did. He fought for her, and he loved ALL of her. Even her quirks and the things she thought were flaws. Phoenix is easily one of my favorite book boyfriends! <3
The only thing I didn't love was all the people who were mean to Luna. I know there are jerks in the world, but I sometimes found it hard to believe that so many people were that hard on her. It wasn't necessarily OTT, but I didn't always understand :( Particularly her brother Ian... there's an explanation, but I wish he would have been a bit more dimensional.
This didn't stop me from enjoying the book and I'll definitely be bugging the crap out of Briana until we get Mac and Noland's stories… they were AWESOME. And I will not be patiently waiting ;)
Luna feels that she has been a burden to her family since becoming deaf as a child and that no-one would ever want to be with her. She has good reason for feeling this way as her family doesn't treat her well and men don't want to be with her long term. When she moves in with her best friend and his roommate, she struggles to accept that Phoenix wants to really get to know her but Phoenix doesn't give up.
Phoenix sees Luna for who she is and not just her deafness. They become friends with benefits as he tries to convince her of her worthiness and beauty. Their fate is written in the stars.
I loved the feel of this book and the characters stood out for their awesomeness. There were plenty of moments to laugh and smile about throughout. Everything connected to create an incredible and seamless read.
