First one was in rough condition, the second would not take a proper tuning

First one was in rough condition, the second would not take a proper tuning
The first one I received appears to be one that was either returned by another or beat up pretty badly during shipping. Two of the tuning pegs are broken off, the top is scratched and one nut is missing from the tuning peg. Another two nuts were very loose. With broken tuning pegs, I fear that the internals of this unit may be damaged. Requested a replacement. Will update this review with how the second one looks.Update: I received the second unit, and physically it looked fine. I was able to borrow a Spectrum Analyzer with Tracking Generator (Rigol DSA815) from a friend and set out to tune the unit. While I was able to achieve a ~100dBm notch, the notch was far too wide to be usable for a 5mhz split. In the case of the high side (receive side for my purposes), there was a 13.5dBm insertion loss caused by the wide notch. Needless to say, this was unusable for my purposes and the unit was returned. I instead purchased the 50w version here https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07FGFX6Q4/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 and it tuned up great with a much more acceptable insertion loss (~1dBm on both high and low side). I will leave a separate review on that unit complete with spectrum analyzer photos.Summary: While this unit may be great for some, I highly question the quality control on the units leaving the factory. Others here have stated that the unit works great, which makes me think that some are good little units. After having two bad units, it is clear to me that at least a decent percentage of them are not worth using. My advice: if you buy this unit, make sure you have access to the equipment to tune it, or have someone willing to help you tune it. Do so quickly, while the unit is still within the return period, so that you can send it back if you have trouble!Hope this helps save someone a bit of trouble

First assessments and initial impressions are all good, custom tuning job seems decent, and the unit seems well made; the receiver on my repeater seems quite happy, and most of the output power is making it up to the antenna.

I'm quite happy with this unit, to clarify what may be going on with some of the less favorable reviews - note that cavity duplexers are typically notch-type and are fairly narrow in bandwidth, but even for low pass/high pass bandpass units; if you plan on using these for a GMRS repeater, order the one that's shipped from China and have it tuned to the EXACT frequency you need if you want to maximize performance (or potentially have it work at all), duplexers by design are not one-size-fits-all by any means. It only took mine a few days extra to show up.

A 462 Mhz / 467 Mhz split notch is no good out of the box for the GMRS service, even if it works, performance will be heavily compromised. A few of the review on this product seem to reflect this even though this is not a flaw in the product. Other than that, again, for GMRS - the receiver is connected to the High port, transmitter to the Low port.

I'm sure this notching duplexer works fine, but it wasn't accurately tuned to the indicated frequencys out of the box. Perhaps in shipping it got knocked around enough to change it. I don't have access to the hardware needed to tune it, and so it sits collecting dust for now. I did watch the output through an SDR and it does attenuate and notch signals. I am sure if tuned correctly it would work perfectly. It feels sturdy and well made for what it is.

These are severely untuned with 15dB insertion loss on the low side and about a 35-40dB isolation between the high and low port. It's like someone tuned it with an SWR meter and called it a day. This will take a while weekend to tune as I've never done it before.

Update: I'm adding an extra star because I managed to tune the duplexer for low wattage which is what I wanted it for. Insertion loss at the Low port is less than 1dB and isolation from low to high is at least 55dB. Insertion loss at the High port is about 2.5dB and isolation from High to Low is about 35dB. I think I have the band pass filters set right because the SWR is good at the antenna port but the notch filters aren't isolating correctly. I don't plan on transmitting on the high port anyway so it's fine for some HTs. I tuned with a nanoVNA, it was not a great experience.

Works extremely well, i've been using it for over a week without issues. Came preset for the frequencies I needed. Checked it with my SWR and it is performing very well. If you cannot afford to spend hundreds of dollars on a duplexer, this unit is for you and its performance won't disappoint!
