This should be a Harry Potter tie-in product. Just phenomenal...
Wingardium Leviosa!... and seemingly heavy metallic shapes fly up and float. The shapes are, in fact, very light.
I bought Fun Fly Stick for my kids but after trying it myself and then watching them roughly handling "my precious", I decided to buy them something else to ruin and keep the Fly Stick as my office toy. Do not judge me! When you buy the toy you will understand it.
It helps me focus on my thoughts and my work while floating shapes. I do not know why it works this way, may be the movement of the flyer in a wave manner in front of my eyes, may be the whirring sound, but the wand does it. Magic Wand and no less.

Everyone at my office finds it fascinating and... calming.

A few words of caution:
The flyers or floaters are super-very-fragilistick. Be ready for expenses on spare floaters.

THE REVIEW IS BY THE ORIGINAL CREATOR AND MANUFACTURER OF THE FUN-FLY-STICK.

THIS ADDITION IS FROM JAN 12, 2016
The seller on Amazon "Real Home Cookin" is selling an old product (manufactured in 2009) which was stored by its original owner under conditions which caused lubricant to leak. So the wand works for a few minutes and stops working. There are recent 1 star reviews on Amazon pertaining to this old product. Understandably, people are disappointed. All the Fun-Fly-Sticks beginning 2010 have 10 flying shapes; the one that is sold by "Real Home Cookin" has 7 shapes. Please take a note if you are a buyer.
END OF THE ADDITION

The Fun-Fly-Stick became very popular in 2009-2010 which prompted the appearance of numerous knock-off s on the market. When you buy the toy in 2012 you will encounter retailers that sell knock offs but do not disclose it to you. In our experience with the product, the retailer selling it here and offering "deals 4 u" is selling the knock off and you should be aware of that when you are buying this item.

Consumers can easily determine if they are buying original or a copycat.
The original Fun-Fly-Stick sold in the USA no longer has 5 flying toys inside the package. In 2011 the packaging got upgraded to 10.
If you purchased the Fun-Fly-Stick and found out that there are just 5 flying toys inside it (there are no ring shapes and no medium spheres there) you have a cheap knock-off on your hands.

What is different between the original shapes and the copycat?
The shapes for the original product are made in the USA and they are 100 times thinner than a human hair. There is no technology in China that can produce the shapes from Mylar this thin.

... my husband sure likes it!! He saw it somewhere on the internet & told me about it, so that's what he got for fathers day.

Our kids (6 & 5yrs old) have tried it... but usually end up getting the "object" stuck on the wall pretty quickly. They like making paper stick to the wall with the FunFly Stick!!

It doesn't work AS well when it's raining outside or damp.

The "objects" that you can float around are made of super-thin plastic... and they can store flat inside the directions pamphlet (which is where I'd recommend you keep them)!

It's a decent buy... but I don't think this would be a good toy to buy anyone under 8yrs old for sure- maybe 10yrs old.

This is a great toy to learn about science. I can see that kids will enjoy it for an hour or two but then the fun wears off as it rather hard for a young child to master. It is probable best in the hands of a teacher or home schooling parent. A number of scientific experiments can be done beside flying the shapes. As the flying objects are very fragile but easily made from a Walmart bag or other similar material I do find it well worth the price.

We got it to work a little, but mostly, instead of floating, the items immediately stuck to the stick. We followed the instructions, but no good. Because we had to do so much shaking and pulling the items off the stick over and over, soon the items tore apart. I couldn't even get the butterfly off the paper backing without it splitting. Congrats to anyone who gets this to work for them!

Also, for a toy that's supposed to have added educational value, there was *nothing* in the package to explain the science behind the toy. Really? I mean, I can look it up myself, but you'd think the manufacturer would have a little more pride in their item.... unless they figure it's meant to be a cheap piece of crap! As it is, my kids did learn a valuable lesson - things aren't always as cool as they look on TV.

I wanted to get my 13 year old nephew something he could unwrap for Christmas instead of cash or gift cards like he usually gets. I thought this looked like fun. He made a funny face when he saw the box, but once he got it out he played around with it for a long time. His younger brother and sister also enjoyed it. The adults passed it around too. My sister told me he was still playing with it a month later which is always a good sign. One of the foil shapes got damaged because it was harder for the younger kids to avoid obstacles, so I would say if you're buying this for younger kids order an extra box of shapes.
