Lab grade? No, but it is certainly a great product and a fun build for the cost.
The FG085 looked promising on paper. The kit arrived shortly after ordering and assembly was relatively easy if you are an experienced builder. Operation is a little clunky but for the price it seemed like it would be a decent compromise.
However, I immediately noticed problems with signal stability below 1V amplitude. I attempted to contact JYETech directly but they would not answer or grant access to their user forum. I opened a case with nooelec, which just became a blind for me to communicate with JYE. Every day they asked me to do a bunch of stuff, which I did to prove that the generator had issues. I ordered the unit on April 2nd. On May 4th, over a month later of hashing back and forth, I was told "We have sent them to JYETech who will be issuing your replacement directly."
It is now June 9th, there is no new unit and I was informed that there was no refund, or replacement after the unit was assembled. Yeah, Covid, China, etc etc but this is just bad customer service end to end.
Save your $50 and find a different unit, kit or whatever. I cannot recommend this FG085 or these vendors to stand behind this product.
I took off one star--tempted to actually drop it down to 3 because the included AC adapter puts out 15vdc, which causes the device to not turn on properly. I'm not sure if they are all like that, but mine did not work. I put in one that is 12vcd and boots up fine.
The waveforms look decent. At a higher frequency, you start seeing that square waves arent too square, but for my purposes it'll be fine.
I also 3d-printed out a case from thingiverse.
Edit: I revised from 4 stars to 3 because while there are many fg085s on Amazon, I chose this more expensive "package" because of the included AC adapter. I paid more for the convenience of not needing to source one that fits this unit. Unfortunately, the AC adapter that came included was not compatible.

I found the setup instructions clear enough and the PCB is well labeled. The pre soldered smd components were soldered good too. As I am learning how to use it, I can't say about the features as compared to other FGs. It is easy to use and set values.
The bottom most panel will only fit with the posts if you soldered the capacitors completely flush to the board. When I solder I tend to leave a 1-2mm gap and it was enough to prevent the back panel from being flush with the posts. Because of this I had to use longer posts for the rear side in the end.
The LCD seems to whine. The pitch differs based on what how much is displayed on it. These appear to be common LCDs designs you can use with Arduinos or Raspberry Pis, but the chips are covered to prevent seeing what controls the LCD itself.
It would not be hard to add sides to the panels to make a full enclosure. So if you have some polycarbonate/plexiglass/Lexan laying around you can simply cut what you need and hot glue it to the panels or hinge it to the screw posts for easy removablity.
Other than that it's a nice kit and would recommend it if you can solder.
