Mark also provides useful and concise answers to VCs' most challenging questions (by no means you should parrot such answers verbatim, but consider them as starting points for crafting your own).
I'm sure you'll read this book and curse under your breath when you realize that you've been unwittingly committing "fundraising faux pax". Well, everything you didn't know you we're doing wrong is spelled out in clear examples.
In an attempt to be balanced, I offer this critique: the book takes a few chapters to warm up and the first few chapters feel light on insights relative to the remainder of the book. Trust me, just plow through that and enjoy the rest.
He goes into great detail on every topic, Helping you understand the "why" of everything you are doing to raise money.
I had done a lot of research on how to raise money for startups, nothing comes close to this book, it covered all the major questions I had.
Hands down must read if you are working on a Start-up looking to raise money.
I've now read a handful of similar books, and by far this is clearest and most accessible presentation of the overall VC fund raising process, with particularly insightful notes about pitfalls, things to emphasize, etc. If you want to succeed at fund raising, read this book ASAP !!
It's a must read for anyone looking to raise capital at any stage of the game. Highly recommended.
