Violent, fast paced and marinated in northern black humour, we follow Harry and his team as they set about cracking a people trafficking ring operating in the seedier parts of Hull.
I do like Harry - a lot. The author has created a great character in the irreverent, obstinate and totally un-PC, detective. He has real heart and cares about his team like family even if he wouldn’t want them to know. He also provides us with some of the funniest one-liners.
The plot is clever and suitably twisted, so much so that you have to keep turning the pages. I read it in one sitting. Picking up some of the threads from Just Whistle, but not so many that you can’t read this as a stand alone, there are lots of surprises, not least the ending!
All in all, a gritty police procedural and a cracking read that I would certainly recommend.
