I recently discovered Truffle & Salt as a condiment and have tried a couple of other brands in the 5% to 7% range.

This is, easily, the most pungent of the lot. Delicious truffle flavor in a solid quality salt.

Surprisingly, priced less than other brands and, as it is available through Amazon, Prime folk can take advantage of subsidized shipping.

We are a foodie family, and we love truffle salt.

We have a jar of this truffle salt and a jar of Casina Rossa Truffle and Salt by Nicola de Laurentiis - 3.5 oz. in the cupboard at all times. We go through the Casina Rossa at a 4 to 1 pace, and only because I use the FungusAmongUs brand in heavier stews where it's indelicacies will not be noticed. I wouldn't even consider the brand for a finishing salt on tomatoes or mild cheeses.

If Casina Rossa is a well-mannered Persian housecat, FungusAmongUs is a burr-covered, hacking Maine Coon. I'd adopt both, but would love them differently.

I originally saw truffle salt on a menu in a restaurant. I wanted to try it for myself and - WOW!

This product is a wonderful "finishing salt" for eggs, salads even french fried potatoes.

It gives a wonderful dimension to a dish and provides that "What did you add that made it so good" aura. Try this truffle salt and you will be delighted, too!

Just got this and I love the aroma. Should be great with cooking. One thing I want to note is the reason I got this instead of truffle olive oil is that truffle olive oil is basically a scam. They use lab made 2,4-dithiapentane, which mimics the primary (but not only) aroma and flavor of truffles because real truffles do not leach well into oils. It's kind of a scam.

This product does indeed contain the real deal: dried black truffle. But one of the 3 ingredients listed also is something called 'aroma,' which I cannot help but conclude is the very same 2,4-dithiapentane used in 'truffle' oil. It is a kind of a disappointment to me, but honestly I can't tell where the real truffle aroma ends and the 2,4-dithiapentane begins. Like I said, it smells great, but if you are a purist, know what you are getting.

I keep a jar of this truffle salt right next to my stove all the time. It gets used 3-4 times a week minimum, more than any other single seasoning I use. I love the flavor of truffles and this way, I can have it. Buying whole, fresh truffles is out of the question, and this salt offers an economical way to get that unmistakable essence of truffle in my food. Also, a jar of this salt makes a lovely hostess gift. I just gave one to a friend last week and she loved it.

It's not till you get it, and read the ingredient list, that you see after sea salt and truffles, the final thing added is "AROMA", another word for thioether, an artificial truffle odorant. They've so completely overdosed this product with it, could be smelled even before I opened the package.

I gave this to my dad for Xmas. He and my mom have been very pleased with the truffle flavor, BUT no method of packaging can contain the truffle odor, which is very strong and pungent. For a while it worked to keep the small jar shut up in a larger jar, but now they've had to move the larger jar to the downstairs pantry. I know people rejoice in the wonderful smell of truffles at the harvest, but no one wants to smell truffles all the time, especially when making rhubarb pie.

The flavor deserves 5 stars, and I would consider buying it again -- but first I need to think of a way to store it!
