Fur & Feathers is NOT YOUR TYPICAL BOARD GAME! It's a fun, fact-filled game about animals and how our everyday choices can affect their lives. The object of the game is to be the first player to save one of each of the five animals. Players can do so by correctly answering animal fact questions, visiting the Cafe', visiting the Animal Shelter and adopting a pet or by the luck of the spinner at The Farm. There are plenty of ways to win the game but strategy and a little luck can help too! The game includes: 1 Large - 20 x 20 bright, colorful game board, 50 Animal Fact Cards, 25 Score Sheets, 6 playing pawns, 2 attachable spinners, 1 die and 1 instruction sheet. This educational board game is rated for ages 6 and up with some reading required. However, the instruction sheet also includes an alternative, non-reading way to play and children as young as 4 years old.
Top customer reviews
Playing this game is enjoyable to them because it's truly just a board game (we've bought some games in the past that weren't much fun because they are trying too hard to teach something) but it has led to great discussions about how animals are used or homeless and what we can do about it. There are three areas where the actual saving can occur: 1) the Choices Cafe (save a chicken by eating a bean and rice burrito or a pig with spaghetti and garlic bread for example) 2) the Animal Shelter (spin the arrow and save a dog or a cat) 3) The Farm (spin the arrow and save a cow, chicken or pig.) You "earn" a question by going around the board and landing on a star. Get the answer right and you get to choose which area to go to save an animal. The questions are good for kids and adults alike, and we've even played with children who can't yet read. We've played with a child as young as three (with help) but it's probably better for four years old and up. Great fun for children and adults alike.
The quality of the materials that make up this game are superb. As many times as we've played it (it's been years) and it still looks new! I rarely write reviews but highly recommend this game. We love it.
