She was really getting into playing with the ball inside the base. She's totally distracted having a great time till she starts yowling. She's stuck - can't pull her leg out of the hole. There's a metal clamp inside the circular base that the bottom screws up into, and she got her claw stuck on it (in the gap between the wood and the metal).
It took about 15 crazy stressful minutes of 2 of us with a flashlight and screwdriver to get her unstuck. I had to reach in through the top hole with a screwdriver and get it under her claw and push it away from her, to get it out from under the clamp. Pretty odd design flaw.
So to prevent this from happening again, I cut a piece of hard flexible plastic - one of those cheap flexible plastic cutting boards - into a circle just a little smaller than the base, rolled it up pushed it in through one of the side holes and then unrolled it inside so it lies flat and covers the whole bottom. Then i squirted a little glue in under it through each of the 4 holes just to be extra careful.
Other than that it looks good - the cat liked it right away, scratching the post, sitting on the podium, playing with the spring to, and the ball of course. Oh yeah, It comes with 2 balls. I dropped 1 on my linoleum kitchen floor from about waist height and it broke in half. Literally.
So other than the 15 minutes of a screaming hissing crazy stressed out half-wild bengal cat, so far so good. Fortunately I had a black cloth bag to put over her head during the extraction process. She's a little wild anyway, so did not take kindly to this experience.
I'll let you know if she ever goes near it again.
****** 1 YEAR UPDATE ****** We've had this cat condo (Cat Heaven to Spanky!) and it is still going strong as you can see from the 2 added photos. They were taken today, November 20, 2016. He's not quite the tiny ball of fur he was when we first bought it, however, as you can see, he still loves it just as much! You can also see the lover right leg is scratched to death... that could have been our furniture! Worth every penny and would certainly buy again! SO very happy with it!
My cat was OBSESSED with the little mouse on an elastic string on the lower level. I named it Cynthia. She just kept trying to pull it off by grabbing it in her mouth and jumping down or tugging on it. Last night she got the string wrapped around her paw somehow and got it all tangled in her claws. She kept pulling to try to get away and screaming because she was stuck. I had to just rip the string from the platform to get her out. RIP Cynthia. I deducted a star because I'm not sure what would have happened if I was at work and she got stuck for 8-10 hours!

I don't know if it would be suitable for multiple cat homes? But I suspect two cats would share this cat tree just fine. Especially if one was smaller in size.
Fun toys that are durable: My cat plays with the various different toys (which include a twine rope, a mouse hanging from the one house, one hanging bauble and one spring coiled bauble, and what they call a "Cat IQ Busy box" that has two balls inside). While some reviews said the mouse came loose immediately, my cat has played aggressively with it and it is still here, so far so good - but we haven't had the tree for very long.
Lots of different levels: He loves everything from top to bottom.
Lots of twine: part of why he loves the different levels is that there is a twine pole on every level and he loves scratching this. One negative review said that it wasn't made of the normal carpeting that they could scratch? While the main unit is a soft plush carpet, this is exactly as it was with my previous cat tree. However, the twine poles are more than sufficient to happily scratch away at.
Good size: It is true that the top two levels are small, but as you can see, my 14.5 pound cat can comfortably sit and even lay down on those levels. I doubt he'd sleep there, but he fits nicely into the larger compartment down below, for this purpose. The middle level compartment is more for play and hiding than anything else. He is not cautious or wavering in his use of the top two posts.
Pro and Con:
I would say that this cat tree is actually quite sturdy, as cat trees go. The assembly used a good number of large bolts to adhere everything together. However, I think the nature of cat trees is that there is a tiny bit of wobble to them. It's nothing unstable! But there's a bit of movement when he goes up and down. I will point out that he doesn't seem to care at all. This might be more important to multi-cat households. However, the base was surprisingly hefty, so I do not worry about a topple over.
The one clear negative that I would give about this cat tree is that the instructions were a bit of a mess. They weren't always correct (diagram indicated correct screw to use, but written instructions indicated incorrect screw) and sometimes they weren't in order (the middle compartment should be placed to attach to the middle level using the same screw that attaches the middle level to the centre post below it, it should not be placed after the middle level has already been secured to that post). Sometimes, I would argue, they didn't suggest the best option for assembly (the little ladder has fairly malleable, though sturdy, attachments, that I connected to the tree from the underside of the middle platform, rather than according to the instructions, which said I should join them at the top of the middle platform, where it would be an eye sore and also get in my cats way). HOWEVER, frankly, it's a fairly basic construction, the visual diagram is quite helpful, and I had this thing assembled in full, including photo breaks of my cat climbing, within thirty minutes to an hour of opening the box.
