Great to use on bed

I'm using it everyday and really love it.

This product does help a lot when I want to use my laptop on my bed. This kind of table is far better than a regular bed tray since it is angle adjustable and gives more space to my legs. Also, the aluminum alloy panel helps prevent the computer from getting too hot. There is space for the mouse too.

I recommend using it on bed or sofa, rather than putting it on the floor since increase in height may result in a little swaying. It's not difficult to unfold the desk, but may need some patience loosing and locking the buttons. It is not that easy to change the height, so keeping it in one place may be a good idea.

Vent: The name "Furinno Adjustable Vented Laptop Table Laptop Computer Desk Portable Bed Tray Book Stand Multifuctional & Ergonomics Design Dual Layer Tabletop" is completely ridiculous & useless outside of a database search context.
I'll call it Furinno standing desk or keyboard shelf.

Works fine. It has a little bit of jiggle, but it's really quite rigid. I just leave it set up and set it beside or under my desk if I want to sit down. The joints ("locking hinges") seem very durable. I when I work them, I feel like the designers made the right decision on the hardware here.

If I was moving around alot, it seems like it would be easy enough to fold & open up again, although to this end I must mention:
1) There would definitely be some small learning curve to climb before one could open it to the desired height with all 6 joints at matching angles.
2) I would want to put marks on the joints at the positions to which I would most often open them. Even so, the joints come marked in 15 degree ticks, so if you want to put the brainpower into it, you could ID and remember the degree settings for each pair of joints.

Also, if I was taking this thing around to different places, I'd want to put it in a bag. Although it's very lightweight, and length and the legs make it a bit unwieldy. It's too long for my laptop bag. Consider how to address this issue if you anticipate taking this with you.

The only strange thing about this is that this product line didn't seem to have any mouse shelf associated with it -- at least at the time I bought it.) If you plan to put a laptop on it & are content with its built-in mouse interface, the following will not apply to you: A colleague refered me to this Furrino stand and LapWorks Wizard MouzPad (size 6-1/4 x 7-3/4 inches) - Mouse Pad Platform & Adjustable Angle Leg Clamp only - DOES NOT INCLUDE THE WIZARD DESK STAND, LAPTOP OR MOUSE., so I bought both items together. No regrets with that -- it's like they're made for each other.
Portability consideration: The LapWorks MouzPad hase a very nice clamp, but it is not quick-release. My comments about carrying the standing desk apply without the mouse shelf attached, so they apply even more so with the shelf attached.

No more weight on my lap

Okay, finally decided to purchase another laptop table, tray, stand. This makes 4 or 5. I think I've found a winner. Two things I noticed the first night I was drafting with this;
1) No more weight on my lap, plus the heat as well.
2) The MouzPad that I bought as well really helped with my carpel tunnel.
It seems like the number of different adjustments that can be done with this thing are only limited by the user. I would liked to have them offer the same thing, but in a smaller size. Because at 17 inch width, it's just wider than I need.
I do love that they used aluminum for the build, and it is not as heavy if they had used steel, and way better than any plastic POS out there.

Update 02/26/14: Wanted to do a small update to my review. After messing around with the tabs that hold the laptop on the stand I found that there is a means to have the tabs be a bit taller. Just pull the tabs up until you feel like they might break, just past that they will extend up to a high enough level hold my tall 15" Samsung.

Just Decent

UPDATE: Although you would think this stand would be almost indestructible because of its aluminum alloy frame, the knobs on each side are just plastic. One day in the summer while trying to adjust the stand the plastic at the top of the joint snapped, taking the entire leg with it on one side. This made this stand completely useless. Considering the high cost of this stand I was furious that it lasted less than a year! As the warranty is for one year, I didn't bother contacting Furinno, especially since I don't want another of these stands. I used this stand daily for hours at a time and under normal conditions, so the knob snapping is just ridiculous. I switched back to a Cooler Master and am having much better results (review will be posted).

Original Review:
I was looking for an all-in-one type of laptop stand and this stand is adequate. I wanted a stand I could occasionally use on my lap while reclining in my bed, use while sitting at my desk and use in the living room as its own table. This stand manages to do two of these three functions amazingly well. In fact, this is probably the only stand I have found which works great in the bed. The width of the stand means it will fit over wide hips (like mine) and larger bellies without any problems. In the bed and when sitting at a desk, the three adjustable legs ensures I can always get the perfect elevation and angle on my computer without putting strain on my neck.

However, this stand is just not tall enough to be used as its own table. Although I have tried it with several different chairs in my home and when visiting others, its height as a table is just too low. Using it is a table requires looking down at my computer and leaning over it. this just puts too much strain on the eyes and lower back. Plus, in this position on a bare floor it was just too slippery and was unsteady even when locked into position.

The other feature I wanted in my stand was compactness. This stand, however, is too long and or wide to fit in my current laptop or luggage bag (yes a larger bag would hold it). However, it is very lightweight so it can be carried, even though this can be cumbersome. Of course, carrying it has also meant I have dropped it a few times and banged it into things. Thankfully, however, this has proven to be pretty resilient and durable. There is not a scratch on this stand and the fans still work great, even though it has gotten a little wet when carrying it in the rain. Wiping it off and waiting until it dried out before turning the fans back on has worked pretty well. The fans are also pretty quiet but considering the size of this stand, they could be larger. My 17-inch laptop fits perfectly and the stand seems to easily manage its weight, but it does shake some as I type which is distracting.

The stand is quite attractive and has gotten a number of compliments. I have the purple color which is really beautiful in person. The little levers that keep the computer from sliding off can be used in two positions. You can simply let your laptop rest against them or you can open these little levers. Once opened the laptop is basically wedged into the lever and wont slide off or down. I recommend using this feature if you plan on using your laptop on the bed while your laptop is over your head, in this position adjusting your body and bumping the stand could cause the laptop to tilt forward and hit you in the face if these levers aren’t open. However, even with these levers open your laptop could still tilt forward if the angle of the stand is to elevated. The levers are adjustable so they will move to fit different size laptops. I have dropped these little levers lots of times when moving this stand, so it would be great if the ends were closed so the stands could move but not slide all the way off.

The locking mechanism is different from any other laptop stands I have used, but once you try it out a few times it’s very easy to understand and adjust. It would be great if there was a hook on the back of the stand to help with keeping cords a little better organized and out of the way.

Overall, the issues I have with this stand are minor and it is the best laptop stand I have ever owned. The price is high, but if it lasts for a few years it will be worth it.
