Editorial Reviews
The musical score for the 7th installment of The Fast & The Furious franchise is composed by Brian Tyler, an American composer, arranger, producer, musician, and songwriter. Tyler has composed scores for film, television and video games, including scores for the third, fourth, and fifth episodes of The Fast & The Furious. Brian Tyler is easily one of the busiest composers around today. Tyler won Composer of the Year at the 2013 Cue Awards and was nominated for a 2014 BAFTA Award. In 2010, Tyler was inducted into the music branch of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. As of May 2015 his films have grossed $9.5 billion worldwide. When discussing the creation of the score, Tyler explained: 'The music uses modern recording techniques, vintage modular synthesizers, mashed-up beats, drums and tweaked remix elements along with classic film scoring traditions including full orchestra, piano, voice and classical guitar. I am so proud of the movie, and I dedicate the score to the memory of Paul Walker and all the joy he brought.'

Tyler brings all the electronic tricks and gizmos to give "Fast 7" the score it deserves and exactly what we expect to hear in a movie like this. With plenty of upbeat rhythms and techno "watch-ya-ma-call-its" galore...this is not a soundtrack you'd want to listen to on a Sunday drive. It's pretty intense when it wants to be and more likely to give you a speeding ticket when not used carefully! Tyler doesn't rely solely on his electronic toys however. He does and excellent job of blending everything together with a stringed orchestra and brass too. Nearly all of the emotional/sentimental portions of the score are done exclusively with the stringed orchestra and Tyler sure can spin a soulful and heartfelt melody out of them too. One that will surely bring a tear to your eye is the last track, #28, entitled "Farewell". I assume this is something that is probably dedicated to Paul Walker either during or after the credits of the movie? I haven't seen the movie yet so I'm not sure.
The action tracks are thankfully not "action noise" and very fun to listen to. With plenty of added effects, tempo drops, and accelerated surges...these sequences are very exciting and are seriously affective in conveying this element of the film. We watch these films to see beautiful cars we all wish we had do incredibly crazy things we would never do with them. We want the soundtrack to match. Tyler delivers yet again and I happen to like this one better than "Fast Five". He is much more playful with the theme this time around and the action sequences seem a bit more amped up as well.
The CD version comes with 28 tracks and runs for 1hr. 18min. Included is a 12 page insert with pictures of the cast, images from the movie, and credits to the orchestra. Page 3 has a picture of Paul Walker with the title, "For Paul". It's a great score for the film and I highly recommend.
Many Regards
Roberto
