FURminator Nail Grinder

A well groomed pet is a happy, healthy pet. But, there are many reasons that frequent visits to your pet stylist aren’t always possible. With FURminator’s line of professional quality grooming tools, you can achieve professional results in your own home. As industry innovators and experts on pet hair, FURminator understands the entire shedding cycle and the role that hair care and hygiene play in helping to reduce shedding and make you and your pet happy. For that reason, FURminator developed a high-performance line of hair-care, nail, hygiene, and waterless products.

Nail care is one of the most important and somewhat misunderstood areas of pet care for most pet owners. Because nails require clipping and grinding, many pet parents are afraid of injuring their pets, but ignoring nail care is just as harmful. FURminator's nail care solutions are completely safe and easy to use, thus eliminating the discomfort from the process, not only for pets but also for their owners.

Benefits of using the FURminator Nail Clippers:

  • Features an adjustable guide to make nail trimming efficient and painless
  • Sharp, stainless steel cutting edge ensures a clean, even cut without crushing the nail
  • Eliminates sore paws, legs and hips
  • Regular trimming (recommended every 3-4 weeks) promotes comfort and health
  • Non-slip, ergonomic handle for complete control
  • Anti-microbial plastic helps keep germs and bacteria to a minimum

Instructions for Use

  1. Monitor your pet’s nails and care for when appropriate to avoid overgrowth.
  2. Pet’s nails should not touch the floor when standing. Regular maintenance is important for the health and comfort of your pet.
  3. Before starting, note where the dead nail ends and where the live part – the quick- starts. Hold the paw firmly while gently pressing the base of each nail with your thumb.
  4. Use the nut on the outside of the nail guide to adjust desired cutting depth. Until you and your pet are comfortable, don’t get too aggressive. Cut just a little off every few days.

To my surprise I was very dissapointed with the clippers. They did not clip smoothly leaving the nail with sharp edges like it just tore the nail off rather than cutting it. They diffinately are not for use on a larger dog as the clippers dont open up enough for the nail to be inserted in the clipper. The small safety latch kept engaging when attempting to cut the nails and since it did not cut completely through the dog would sometime jerk their foot back causing some pain to the dog.

After years of working with less than quality nail clippers, I finally found my favorite! As an owner of 4 goldens, I am clipper nails every couple weeks. I saw these and have had such a good experience with their deshedding tools that I had to try. THEY ARE AWESOME! They fit my hand great, clipped the nails perfectly, and they even have great way to ensure the right cut every time.

I recommended these to my family and friends. My sister bought a pair this weekend and they were on sale at Petco... she had 2 labs and said they worked great.

Thank you furminator!

I thought since the Furminator deshedding tool worked so well the clippers would too. The first time I used it I had to clip twice to cute the nail. I do like the handle and the cover but if the clippers don't work the other doesn't matter. Not worth the money.

These clippers are so poorly made that I am reviewing on Amazon even though mine were purchased at a local chain pet store because we needed clippers immediately. They don't open very widely and the nail guide on my model does nothing but get in the way of seeing what you are doing. I finally turned it around toward the handle. The clippers will not cut the nail. I've used these on Pomeranians through German Shepherds and they just won't cut right. The handles don't apply enough force to clip quickly and the nails appear crushed and torn when finally done. All the dogs acted as though it hurt them, which is very unusual in my house. I don't know whether the blades are dull or not properly aligned, but they DO NOT WORK. We have gotten very inexpensive clippers in the past that were way better than these. I am extremely disappointed and these have cast serious doubt on future products from Furminator, a brand I previously respected.

The other reviews are correct. I, like several others here, purchased mine at a local brick and mortar store but disliked it so much I had to write a review here. The blades are visibly dull. I can press my thumb against either of them with significant force and come away unscathed. I tried once to cut my dogs nails and it was just crushing them, so into the garbage it went. Buy something else!

Out of 3 clippers, these were by far the worst. I don't think my shepard/lab's nails are that tough, but they get thick when they are grown out. These twisted the nail to the side while I was trying to cut (even with me recognizing that and trying to keep them very straight). I think this was because they just weren't sharp or heavy duty enough. I did really like the stop, since her nails are black and sometimes its hard to tell where the quick is and how short is too short.

I ended up going with a guillotine clippers, which work so well I can't imagine trying anything else. She'll sit still for those clippers because they don't hurt her as they cut, quickly. I still choose to buff the edges of her nails, but the cut is much cleaner than these ever did.

Bottom line--try more than one style for your dog to determine which is the best for their nails. Don't make nail trimming a painful experience for either of you.

Got the combo pack from a brick and mortar store because nail cutter looked hefty with a good grip; thought I was getting a good deal. The grip is indeed nice but it kept crushing my pet's nails. Thought I was clipping incorrectly so I tried my other nail cutter which is really dinky with a grip that's like the handle like a child's scissors and it immediately cut the nail. Tried the Furminator clipper on another pet's nail (just in case it was nail specific) and again, it crushed the nail. I examined the blades and they seem very dull compared to my other nail cutter.

Stay away from this clipper!! Furminator's deshedding tool is good for certain types of fur so just get that on it's own; you're not saving any money getting a combo pack and certainly not buying this on its own.

*Do NOT buy these for cats!*

These clippers are way too large to trim cat nails.

The clippers are sturdy and seem to be made of quality material.
