Instructions for Use
With any brush, use short smooth strokes in the direction of hair growth. Start with the head and work your way to the tail. Pay special attention to the areas behind the ears and underneath the legs where matting is more likely to occur.
- Before using a FURminator Professional Grooming Tool, perform a complete physical inspection of your pet. Look for sores, bruises and skin conditions, which may be concealed by his coat. If your pet has any of these conditions, seek treatment from a veterinarian before brushing.
- The FURminator Firm Slicker Brush is gentle enough to use even on sensitive skin dogs. Use the tool 1-2 times a week for a few minutes each session to remove excess hair and debris, break up mats, tangles and help keep your pet looking his best.
- The FURminator Firm Slicker Brush is an excellent choice for beginning the grooming process. Use this brush before bathing to remove mats, tangles or foreign material. It may also be used after bathing to give your pet a smooth coat.
- Next use the appropriate comb for your pet’s needs.

Breeds. My fellow doodle owners will understand!
Bottom line is my dog went from looking quite homely to a head turner in about 30 minutes. If you have a husky I would highly recommend this brush.
All 3 are large breed dogs and are spoiled.
First, Mordechai the Malinois... he does NOT like his hair brushed. It is fairly short, but I think the bristles annoy him.
When he was approached this was hidden behind my back, but he knew something was up. After a brief wrestling match, some slobber, and a very injured look from him I was able to start brushing him. He actually calmed down and wonder of wonders, stayed put. That is a minor miracle when grooming this mutt so Home Run there.
Then to the other end of my doggie spectrum. K-Nuckles the Akita. Totally lovable and dumber than a bag of rocks. He looks like pigpen as he barrels through the house leaving hair everywhere. He loves it when I get the shop vac out and demands to have his coat tended to.
Now, Akitas have very, and I mean VERY dense, silky, long fur. He actually has 2 coats as if one layer was not bad enough. He tends to look patchy as he blows his coat year round, or seems to. Brushes normally can not handle him.
So, unlike Mordy, K-Nuckles saw the brush and it was a test to back him up, but the brush is easy to handle and provides a nice grip.
After just a few swipes I was in shock. This brush grabbed loose and loosening hair off him with ease. No tangling or surface brushing, it got down in there. I think we got an entire dog's worth of fur off of him that first night. I had forgotten how glossy and luxurious his coat is. We had to clean the brush off very often during this as so much fur was brought off of him and the cleaning was easy. We also did not have those loose hairs floating all over the place as can happen with some brushes.
This brush really did the job for dogs at 2 opposite ends of the fur and tolerance spectrum. I would recommend this without hesitation!
