Difficult to understand exactly what the movie was trying to state. Flashbacks were presented in a confusing manner, and there was no backstory to state what brought about the apocalypse. There obviously was a strong religious aspect, as the small groups of clubbers went out to stamp out the abominations, which seemed, as least to me, those dying of radiation poisoning, as lack of hair was one criteria. Once Anse and Bhule met up with Persephone, the whole manner of the film changed. If a person wants to challenge themselves, watch the movie. There may be deeper messages than I found. There are scene of intense gore, as part of a religious ritual. This is not an uplifting movie, and the future as depicted in the film is relentlessly grim.
