About the Author

After graduating with honors in psychology and changing course to work in interior design, Coreene Callahan finally returned to her first love: writing. Her debut novel, Fury of Fire, was a finalist in the New Jersey Romance Writers Golden Leaf Contest in two categories: Best First Book and Paranormal. She loves to create characters inspired by tough guys, having learned a thing or two about them while playing as the only girl on an all-boys hockey team. She combines her love of romance, adventure, and writing with her passion for history in her novels Knight Awakened and Warrior’s Revenge, and in her popular Dragonfury series. She lives in Canada with her family, a spirited golden retriever, and her wild imaginary world.

Not May favorite so far. There was a lot of things that I like about this book. I love Venom and Evelyn I think they are a perfect match and I love all the Nightfury's and the action and suspense was fabulous. But the thing that kept me from loving this book was Venom's and Evelyn's relationship. It was so fast and such a minimal part of the book that it left me disappointed and wanting so much more. I think there was just so much happening in the story that the romance took a back seat to the action and story building.
I can't wait to see what's to come next. There's a nail biting cliffhanger at the end that it's going to be hard to wait until the next book and see who will get their HEA next. I'm looking forward to getting to know Azrad better. I'm very intrigued by his character.

I have been reading this series since the very beginning, Fury of Fire back in February 2012. Back then I fell in love with this brand new author with her fascinating new world of dragons who lived in one of my favorite cities, Seattle. I was so hooked.

So here I am, three years later, still hooked and reading book five. Venom! A Nightfury warrior like the rest of his brothers. Well, maybe not like the rest. They each, after all, have their own genetics and skill sets. Venom? He, like the blurb tells you, is totally toxic – literally. Makes life rather lonely sometimes. I mean, how would you feel if you couldn’t sleep with someone because touching you, for more than a few minutes, would kill them? Sadness. He has made the best of a bad situation by devoting his life to his dragon brothers, to include his best friend Wick.

But Wick found his mate in book four, Fury of Desire, so doesn’t have the time and/or desire to spend as much time with Venom anymore. And really, who can blame him? J.J. is much prettier than Venom is and not near as toxic. All Venom wants is a little company. Maybe of the female type. Someone to hold him for a while. Imagine his surprise when he actually finds a mate tuned to his special needs.

Evelyn has had a really rough few months. Scandal has cost her her livelihood. Her mother died and left her with outrageous debt. She has the Russian mob hounding her. She is at the end of her rope and doesn’t know where to turn. But she needs to raise cold, hard cash now. Selling her body is just about all she has left. When her first “john” turns out to be Venom, life throws a whole new set of issues at the intrepid high energy female.

Wick and Evelyn was a very nice romance.

Fury of Obsession by Coreene Callahan is the 5th book in the Dragonfury series. It took me awhile to get into this one. There are several plot lines running concurrently and it’s not until around the halfway point that things start to gain a cohesive focus. There are several main characters. On one hand we follow Gage, who is imprisoned and being tortured. On another is Ivar and his plot to infect an entire town with a deadly virus. Then there is Venom who is struggling to overcome loneliness and takes off on his own, where he meets Evelyn. Lastly, we have Evelyn who has come across hard times, recently fired from her job and burdened with her deceased mother’s debt to the mob. Desperate times, call for desperate measures and in the course of those actions she meets Venom.

I really liked Venom. He was a wonderful hero and really sweet with Evelyn. He wanted to woo her and win her over. He had yearned so long for a woman to call his own. Someone he could hold throughout the night, someone that could tolerate his toxic touch for more than a short time. I had no doubt in my mind that Evelyn was the most important person to Venom. And Evelyn was a lovely heroine, perfect for Venom. She was strong, sweet and smart. I really enjoyed their interactions together. Their romance was sexy and endearing.

Fury of Obsession had a lot of buildup and the subsequent conclusion felt a little quick in comparison. With the inclusion of the other plotlines the romance felt shortchanged. I would have liked to have seen a little more romantic development. Overall though, it was quite good.

I would recommend Fury of Obsession to fans of the Dragonfury series.

She pulled a J.R. Ward, black dagger brotherhood =too many plots, not enough main character development. I so loved this series that I pre-ordered this book, eagerly anticipating Venom's story. So much potential, so little Venom and Evelyn. This book kept bouncing between thinly linked, and sometimes not linked, plot lines. Gage, Haider and the others had the most interesting plot; then Ivar and his diabolical plot; then B and his long lost brother; & finally Venom. If you're already invested in the series, get it as a filler to segue to the next book. I'm black and was pleasantly surprised that this was an interracial coupling. I shouldn't be surprised that the story involving the sister got short changed. I thought she'd get a backbone and turn into a kick ass Heroine. However, she's given very little to do beyond the damsel in distress in need of rescue. Doing her fated mate HE meridian, save the Hero with sex duty hardly counts as any real action.
