Otherwise, these are something you can easily put on your jogging shoes and have immediately at the ready for defense against aggressive dogs or humans. Likewise, you could always wear these if you go to the bar and you either can't legally or just don't want to carry something like pepper spray or whatever as insurance against rowdy drunks.
The material seems sturdy and has a certain amount of give; it seems unlikely they would break in use, so you're doing limited damage to an assailant - important in an age when muggers sue their victims.
I will say that they are not as unobtrusive as I had hoped. It will be obvious to anyone who looks that you are ready for trouble.
