I have this lap desk and for the most part it suits my purposes. I have a rather large laptop (ASUS G73)and when gaming it's too uncomfortable to keep on my lap. I wasn't sure if the lap desk would be big enough for the laptop so I got the desk with two mouse pad extensions. I have found that even without the left mouse extension the desk is plenty large enough for my hog of a laptop. The lap also folds compactly for carrying easily in your laptop case, or in my case a computer backback. It has an option that allows it to fold in half but stay open at a raised incline if you want to use your laptop on a regular desk but want to add some ventilation, although I would only recommend doing this with a smaller laptop. The clips under the desk that hold the pedestal support between the two halves are a little flimsy, and with a heftier laptop they may give way and cause it to collapse from incline to flat with your laptop on it, this is what happened to me..
Now somethings I wish were improved. The mouse pad area is a little small and has rubber feet on top to hold it to the lap desk and small holes punched in that serve no purpose, further decreasing the surface area of the mousing space. Ideally, a mousing surface should be completely smooth and flat. Also, if you have your laptop too far away from the side you have your mouse on, the mouse pad extension will give and bend due to the thinness of the plastic. It won't bend to the point of breaking but won't give you that "solid" feel you need when gaming unless you make some adjustments to the position of the laptop. I was going to order the Max Mouzpad that works with this desk to see if the upgrade gets rid of the problem, however it has been out of stock since I have had this desk and the company website says they won't be getting more until mid June 2012. So I just bought a twenty dollar hard mousepad and put it on top of the mousing extension to make the surface smooth and more solid. Another thing I wish this desk had was some cord management. I know the manufacturer tried to bill the little holes in the extensions as cord management, but the holes aren't large enough for a typical usb plug so all you can hope to do is to bunch your cord and stuff it in the hole. Maybe some small cord wraps and hooks to keep your cable from unplugging would suffice in keeping your cables from yanking out when you move the desk around. And one last thing. The website also mentions no more hot lap with this lap desk. This is absolutely not the case. Even now, as I type this review, I am using a pad used to prop up my baby's mattress under the desk. The vents in the desk allow heat to transfer right through the desk and you end up microwaving your crotch.
Overall, the product is OK. If you are only using this for a keyboard and mouse then this should be more than enough. However if you use this for laptop gaming, just be aware of the issues I noted above.
