I read several people have issues with closing the lid. I made a very short video to help them. Doing it this way, you can even avoid dipping the lid in the food being cooked.
Another problem that many people have mentioned is that the steam whistle is loud, or that the steam whistle also emits some of the food being cooked and makes a mess.
To avoid the steam whistle, try this:
1. For the first few minutes, set the heat on the highest setting till the water starts boiling and there is steam coming out of the lid.
2. After that, lower the flame to a low setting - this will make sure that the pressure is building up, but not so high that steam needs to get out of the cooker.
I use the timer to monitor the cooking time - vary this according to how much you are cooking. I have had soaked chickpeas (2 cups before soaking) cooked to perfection within 17 minutes in total.
I use timers on my stove and this method has worked very well, with minimal attention to be paid to the cooker.
Been using it to minimize time and energy for meat boiling. I have used Mutton/Beef. It takes some time to learn as with every pressure cooker as to how much water to use.
My cooking time for both Mutton/Beef is right around 17 minutes. This is in North Central GA-Georgia with Elevation of: 808 feet (246 m) above mean sea level. Your cooking time will vary slightly depending on elevation, water type and off course type of vegetable or meat used.
Other Imported Cookers (Europeans) cost lot more.
This cooker also comes with an extensive detailed guide on Usage, care and maintenance. Recipe guide book is also well elaborated.
There is a cleaning brush included which was almost hidden in the box. Please make sure that you take it out from the inside sleeve case of the big box. I nearly threw mine away.
