"FutureMan began with the real historical research of Rainer Daehnhardt, aboutactivities in Antarctica by the Third Reich during the 1930s and 40s. Fromthere, the book is a wild, thrilling adventure. It's made better by dialoguethat really sounds like it comes from real people.
The story takes place in present tense. All the characters say things insteadof "said" them. I see present tense more lately, so maybe it's a newthing and writer Bruno de Marques is on the cutting edge. I got used to it. Itratchets up the tension, as if it's happening right now and you, the reader, are right there.
This is a potent combo of history, science and adventure. Well worth a look." -Joe Crowe / RevolutionSF
