I especially loved the first half of the book. I then became frustrated with the h in not believing the H and who he was, it became repetitive. Also, if the H showed her certain things to make her believe his story, WHY didn't he show her his powers, or that of Ninian, who had the ability to appear and disappear. Wouldn't that have been very convincing?
When the H finds his father, this is off page how he discovered where he was being held and how he came to kidnap someone close to Nimue. That is another beef I have, why have two names so similar? Ninian and Nimue, it was confusing until I realized two different people. Granted when you see them side by side they look different, but when several pages apart, my brain couldn't grasp it - lol.
There is much lovemaking, outside of marriage rated 3 out of 5 heat level.
We have no cheating, no cliffhanger, HEA which wasn't easy to come by, some far fetched things to deal with the uncle, who was a nasty villain, incest (off page), and little on romance.
I did enjoy the paranormal part, which was unique story line. I can't improve on the blurb, just what you may discover reading this story. (ljb)
It’s not easy being a lady in England in the year 1463. Lady Annora of Amberton is in hiding. After her father’s passing her uncle has come to claim her lands as his own. He deceives the people of Amberton by claiming Annora is insane. Her uncle instead is secretly drugging her and holding her prisoner. Annora’s faithful made helps her escape in the hopes that Annora can seek assistance from the King. While in hiding they are abruptly visited by a tall, and sexy Knight who is injured and needs care. Andorra decides to help Morgan and hide him from his enemies. Morgan ap Myrddin is an Immortal Knight. He is on a long quest to find his father and free him from imprisonment. Morgan doesn’t want to help, he fears that he will become to close to the mortal women and suffer like his father. He can’t fight the instant lust and attraction that he feels for Annora. Morgan is honor bound to help Annora but is resolved to resist her charms. Morgan and Annora are on two different quests, save Morgan’s father and restore Annora to Amberton. They will have to learn to trust and believe in one another if they are to be successful. The story is beautifully written and chronicles their adventures as well as their romance. It was a great read from start to finish. Enjoy!
In return for her aid, Morgan ap Myrddin helps Annora with her problem but he won’t give in to the lure of a mortal woman as his father did and the readers can’t help but get caught up in the adventure of a lifetime as the two set out to thwart evil only to find that their desires are complicating matters. The chemistry between Morgan and Annora sizzles with vibrant energy from every page right along with their strong, compelling personalities which makes it easy for reader to relate to the characters and to become ensnared in their relationship quandary, which has a maelstrom of emotions keeping suspense and anticipations high throughout the steady to fast paced plot full of intrigue, excitement and romance.
Lots of intrigue keeps expectations and adrenaline pumping suspense building throughout the story as not only is Annora’s uncle causing chaos and confusion with his evil manipulations but Morgan has an enemy on his tail that will do whatever it takes to get what he wants as well. The scenes are well written and full of great details so the reader’s imagination is swept away to a time of knights and magic where the characters have to discover for themselves that sometime it is destiny that needs to be thwarted.
I have always loved the tales of King Arthur and his Knights, so my attention was already captured but Ruth Kaufman added her own spin to the tales and created a magical world that kept me glued to the pages, there were some fascinating differences and interesting twist that added flair to the story and I can’t wait to find out what she has in store for the next book.
