The result is a machine that goes from power off to login prompt in about 18 seconds and loads programs so quickly it's like it's been overclocked--but it's not. I ran Memtest overnight to "burn it in" (uncover early failures) and it passed with flying colors.
UPDATE: It has been 6 months since I originally wrote this review, and I have built 6 rigs in that time---all identical, all with this memory. During that time, one set failed. I ordered two more pairs, and one of those arrived dead as well. So in all, I have had 2 failures in 8 pairs. I returned the set that arrived dead for a refund, and GSkill replaced the other set under warranty. So all is well, but I'd rather have simply not experienced the failures.
So I'm downgrading this product from my original 5 stars to just 3. Hopefully I've just had some unusually bad luck, but figured I would let people know. When things arrive dead it's not too hard to return them, but when they fail outside the 30-day Amazon return window you've got to do a warranty return, and meanwhile your computer is down.
Hopefully GSkill gets their quality-control issues fixed; in the meantime, I can report that GSkill did at least stand behind their warranty.
There are a million articles telling everyone, and their second cousin twice removed, about how many thousandths of a second faster one set of memory is over another one.
And if you have a program that REALLY relies on very fast memory you might save a hundredth of a second here and there. I'm serious. Check it out.
For people who are after the fastest game system that they can get, go ahead and buy the fastest system memory you can afford.
You aren't going to notice it though. The speed of the memory in your video cards is FAR FAR more important then your system memory for just about everything that people (scientist excluded) use a computer for. But, hay, ain't it great to brag?
"See that! I'm 2 hundredth of a second faster than you. Hahahaha. And it only cost me an extra $200!" "HAY, ARE YOU LAUGHIN AT ME!"
So just what did I get out of this DDR3 memory? Rock solid performance day after day and a Windows 7 performance score of 7.6 out of a best possible score of 7.9.
Me? I'm very satisfied.
Oh. My video card memory? It's DDR5. :)
Hot deals was not able to send me both at the same time; but followed up the second one within 3 days of the first. It's clear they did what they could to get me the Ram ASAP, condsidering the supply chaos reigning under Covid.

After research the only difference between CL9S and CL9D is the fact the 'S' means it was shipped as a single module, the 'D' means it was shipped as a double module. Both sticks are identical and support dual channel so there are no compatibility issues.
