I do not have a cd/dvd drive in my system. I have transferred everything to iso files and then used utilities to burn them to various thumb drives. I changed my settings in bios to ahci instead of sata as ide and saved my settings. I then plugged it in without any other hard drive connected. I booted from my usb thumb drive as my motherboard allows this. A complete install was done in 10-11 minutes. My actual boot time from the point that I turn on my system to the point that I am on the desktop ready to work is 12.5 seconds.
I would like to point out that I do not install any microsoft updates as this system is not connected to the internet. It is a computer I use strictly for digital art and photography editing. The WEI score on this hard drive on my system is 7.8 as a single drive. I use standard hard drives for storage and scratch disks for Photoshop. Also because I am running 32gb of ram I do not have any page file turned on. This saves a lot of real estate on the ssd. For anyone not aware the only reason to have a page file turned on is if you do not have enough physical ram to cover the usage needed by the OS. However if running a 64 bit OS and if you have more than 6gb of ram (for argument's sake) then you do not need a page file turned on.Read more ›
Note for Clean install:
- Make sure to put your motherboard in ACHI mode for the SATA3 Hard drive controllers in the bios.
- Unplug all other HDD's you might have in your system before you install.
I made those mistakes while i was setting up my system. Once I unplugged all my other hard drives and setup my bios correctly, it was smooth sailing. With all my drivers and software installed my computer boots in about 15-20 seconds easy. Very happy and impressed!!
I've used other brands and these stack up very well with the more well known ones.
I have no hesitation in recommending this drive. I also have the 240GB drive (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0092I7C52/ref=as_li_ss_til?tag=comsolaz-20&camp=0&creative=0&linkCode=as4&creativeASIN=B0092I7C52&adid=1H64B69FQPMS4YJZG545&) in my personal system, and it's great!
this drive screams, loading times... heh, sometimes it feels like the computer is telepathic... couldn't be happier with this purchase! great price, great value, awesome performance!
