These SoCal summers are getting ridiculous. It’s becoming hotter and drier every year. I got two of these, one for me and the wife. It’s to help us when going on hikes or our ministry. #IYKYK

The build quality is good. I like the center trigger, I think it’s a great design that will last.

It is cooler under the umbrella more than your regular umbrella, and obviously the ambient temp around you. Stands up well to winds too.

I like the extra ties that it comes with, you can use it to tie the umbrella to your day pack or hydration backpack.

It's significantly smaller than the picture, and on the flimsier side. Haven't had a good opportunity to try the bungee loops to fasten it to a backpack (one of the reasons I bought this umbrella over others) for fear of it getting damaged by wind/blown away, and the size limiting the amount of coverage you get in the mornings/evenings if stuck to your backpack. The latch that keeps the umbrella in the extended position is also miniscule, often requiring me to open it several times to get it to latch.

In short, if you're exceptionally skinny and like taking hikes at high noon, you might be fine. For me, though, this umbrella was quite the disappointment.

I got this Hiking Umbrella and for the first two uses was pleased—until it broke on trail in horrific heat. The post where it attaches to the shade snapped completely off when trying to deploy the umbrella.
It is very stiff to open when attached to a pack. While the umbrella does work well, it needs to not break—especially when new!
