One thing to note is that i had to replace 3 of these laptops from amazon till i figured out the fix for GSYNC. Each time i kept receiving the laptops and each one didnt have GSYNC enabled on them. I posted on the ASUS forums with no luck with a fix till i figured it out. If you receive a G752 laptop without GSYNC reboot into the bios and "optimize defaults" (F9). After this you can boot into the OS and you will have GSYNC. No need to replace/refund the laptop! I was very disappointed that there was no fix for the laptop but trying for a refund until i figured this out! i hope it helps everyone else out!
December 7th 2016
When I press the power button the power light turns on and the fans blow full blast. Nothing on the display. No other lights come on. After testing it seems to be a Main/Mother board issue. I contacted ASUS and they will replace with a NEW unit or upgrade if possible. To be honest, they better upgrade to a nicer notebook after all the junk I have been through with this thing. Months of troubles at ASUS.
I still don't suggest buying one and wonder what happened at ASUS. They used to be such a rock solid company.
---MOST RECENT UPDATE---
Asus FINALLY replaced the unit and it works as expected...but...
They could not replace the mainboard because they ran out. And they had no idea when more would become available. This coming from a multinational hardware and software manufacturer that has been in business since 1989.....right! So they replaced the entire unit with a refurbished one. Basically I got a used one for my 3-week old brand new one....really! But that's not the really bad part.
Because Asus held my laptop hostage for so long, it passed Amazon's return period. And also the serial number changed so they would not accept it. This is no fault to Amazon. I called and explained the issue and they approved the return but because it was after the return period there was a "restocking fee" of sort. This means that if I returned the unit I could not afford to replace it with a similar unit from another company because of the price difference. And being a father of 3 on a single income, I could not afford to pay out anymore for another notebook.
So I am stuck with this notebook. To this day I still get a sick feeling when I look at it. It does work fine but I hope you can understand why I would want to be rid of it once and for all. Below is my updated review.
PROS: Beautiful screen. Fast CPU and GPU. Case style is awesome looking. USB-C port for fast transfer and charging on my Nexus 6P (when notebook is powered on).
CONS: Worst customer service / support I have ever had (see original review below). This is coming from a person that has worked over 10 years in the tech support / customer service industry. Non user replaceable battery. That matched with the 1 to 2 hours of battery life are real issues. USB-C port is not powered when the PC is off so I can't use it to charge my Nexus 6P unless it is turned on. No Asus BIOS. WHY!?!? Almost every PC product they make has their own BIOS except this one. We are stuck with a limited BIOS made by Intel or somebody. Non-standard size means case options are limited. I used the Everki Atlas. I don't suggest the Asus Nomad 2. It's not as nice and has less storage space for the same price.
RECOMMENDED PRODUCT: Acer Predator 17 G9-791-735A 17.3-inch Full HD Gaming Notebook (Windows 10)
The Acer Predator has the same specs except for a larger M.2 drive for a cheaper price. I wish I could return this unit and get that one but Asus made sure that I couldn't. So now I am stuck looking at this notebook until it dies. Thanks Asus!
This unit is HUGE and fast. Build quality feels a little cheaper than I expected but it's good enough. Speakers are subpar. Some engineer put them behind the screen when it opens. This was a mistake. I hate the rubberized housing where your palms rests. There always seems to be fingerprints on it, even if your clean. But it starts up in 8-10 seconds and plays most games at high or ultra-settings. I use it mainly for school and I am able to run multiple virtual PC's and SQL server apps with ease. I had an issue with the main board after the first two weeks. Not really a big deal. It has a warranty. So I sent it in for a RMA on 4/25/2016. Because I live 3 hours from the repair center they received it the next day. I was "fixed" by their team and I got it back on 4/30/2016. So here is where it all goes downhill. After I spent hours reinstalling my school software and personal files, I found that the main board was not what I purchased. My notebook came with a GTX 970M. This notebook had a GTX 965M. The model number in "System Information" was different too. I checked online and this was a $450 cheaper model! So I called Asus and got a person to help. They said I would have to send it back for another RMA to verify that it was the incorrect model. I asked if they could remote into my PC and look at the "System Information". I know this is pulled directly from the main board. They said they don't have that ability...
It is 2016 and they don't have a remote access support tool! Really!?
After being escalated from their Jamaican call center to a US representative, and being told again that they could not remote in and verify because ASUS is stuck in 1999, I sent in the RMA again on 5/2/2016. The unit was received by the repair center on 5/3/2016. I installed their "MyASUS" app to check the status of my second RMA. I had received no update by 5/6/2016 so I called and got escalated again. This is not easy and took multiple phone calls. The US rep told me that the parts for my notebook where not in stock and they are waiting on them to finish my repair. FML. After going back and forth he stated he would email the repair center and get an ETA by 5/9/2016. Today is 5/10/2016. I have not received an email or update from ASUS. I am on the phone with them right now trying to get some info. So far they said they emailed me but I did not receive it. The rep read the email to me. It basically stated they were sorry but they have no idea when it will be fixed but a "parts hold" has been placed on the unit.
At this point I can't return it to Amazon because it had the wrong main board, and now I don't even have the unit. And I have no idea when I will get it back. I have missed out on two weeks of school because I don't have a PC powerful enough to run the apps I need. We only have one week left and ASUS had made sure that I will fail that too. I filed a complaint with the BBB and hope that will help push this along. I am not asking for much. Just a PC that I paid for and only used for two weeks.
---BBB COMPLAINT SUBMITTED ON 4/30/2016---
I recently purchased a ASUS ROG G752VT DH72 for school. I need a powerful notebook for the advanced work I do. It was so big I had to buy a special $150 Everki Atlas backpack to protect it because of the non-standard size. I am very low income, so this notebook needs to last 4 to 6 years. I don't have the budget to replace it every 1 to 2 years. I called ASUS for a RMA repair because it would not power on or change. The where very kind and the RMA was created and the unit was shipped on a Monday. RMA: XXXXXXXXX I received the unit back that Saturday around noon. The unit has these rubber plugs that cover the screw holes and a few where missing now. There is a small amount of scratches around the monitor. The serial number sticker on the bottom is peeling off. Also when I put a solid color on the screen, you can see some light bleeding from the bottom and some cloudiness in the color. I spent the rest of the day setting up the PC and installing the specialized software I need. I figured those items where acceptable. Around 10pm I discovered that the system specifications where for a ASUS ROG G752VL-DH71. This unit costs about $450 less than the one I purchased. I called and after about 10 to 12 tries finally got a person that told me my only option was to do another RMA. I feel that this is a complete waste of time. I have already been without my notebook for a week, and now it will be another week. Not to mention that they want me to mail it back to the same facility that messed it up the first time. At this point I feel they should replace the unit. How long will it last now that it will be taken apart so many times.
---ASUS RESPONSE TO COMPLAINT 5/10/2016---
I apologize for any inconvenience or frustration this may have caused. I am very sorry to inform you that we will not be able to replace your unit with a new in box unit. However, looking into your case, I see there is a parts hold on the unit. I have reached out to the facility and asked them to please replace this unit if it would be quicker than waiting for the parts. As I want to get you taken care of as soon as possible. I do deeply apologize for this matter. Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns.

---MY REPLY ON 5/10/2016---
I have only one more question. When will I receive my notebook? A simple question that I have received no answer to. I was supposed to have a response to this my Monday. That was yesterday. When will I receive my new or use or fixed or unfixed notebook? This is absolutely ridiculous. Please provide this simple answer. Is there a main board available for a model higher than the one you are waiting for? That would work! I have spent hours on the phone with your Jamaican support team, getting transferred to your escalations team, and then your US team. Nobody can give me any ETA or info of any type on when I will get my notebook back.
Repair status on your site: [WB1] Wait for Material/Spare Parts (STILL!)
Today was my last day of school. I failed because I could not complete the work. This is due to your company putting the wrong main board in my PC, then not being able to do a simple remote access verification, then not having parts to repair my unit.
I truly feel that after the time and money I have lost dealing with your company, the lease you could do is send me a new unit. This would solve all OUR issues and you would never hear from me again. Am I really asking too much? What would you do in my situation?
I have a feeling you won't honestly answer these questions...
---ASUS REPLY ON 5/12/2016---
Sorry for the late response I was in the process finding out about what we have in stock. I can confirm that we do not have an ETA on a motherboard replacement but we do have a recertified unit in stock. Please let me know if you are okay with that unit or if you would want to wait for replacement
---MY REPLY ON 5/12/2016---
I sent you a new unit I had for two weeks any you waste weeks of my time,
and all you can do is a refurbished unit with God knows what is wrong with
You really refuse to send a new unit? I think I will wait for your reply
and contact a lawyer if needed. This is unacceptable treatment.
Please reply ASAP.
---ASUS REPLY ON 5/13/2016---
I had checked for a new unit but that was not in stock (((TOTAL LIE!!!))). I apologize for the miscommunication.
---MY REPLY ON 5/13/2016--
I have asked them to call me and speak with me directly. I am tired of back and forth emails. I have a feeling this will solve nothing but I have hope.
I find it funny that a "a Taiwanese multinational computer hardware and electronics company headquartered in Beitou District, Taipei, Taiwan. Its products include desktops, laptops, netbooks, mobile phones, networking equipment, monitors, projectors, motherboards, graphics cards, optical storage, multimedia products, peripherals, wearables, servers, workstations, and tablet PCs" (from their wiki page) has no idea when a main board or new unit will be available.
I also went to their main site and THEY HAVE A STORE where you can purchase directly from them.
Guess what? It's in stock. I started an order and everything. Got all the way to the end (did not order because they already have my money held hostage) and there was no warning stating it was "not in stock".
"This visionary approach is why ASUS is a major proponent in bringing quality innovation and design into its users’ lives. ASUS products won 4,368 international awards and accolades in 2015, and company revenue was over US$11.9 billion." (from their own site)
So you really have no idea when I will get my PC back ASUS? Really?
---ASUS REPLY ON 5/18/2016---
I am reaching out to you in regards to your BBB complaint. The replacement unit has shipped out today under FedEx tracking number: XXXREMOVEDXXX. Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns regarding this matter.

Is this a used or new replacement? What concession is being made for the weeks I have had to deal with your mistake?
---ASUS REPLY ON 5/19/2016---
This is a Class A refurbished unit that has been fully tested.
Now, what I can do for you is extend your warranty for you an additional 90 days from the warranty end date now to compensate for the lost time. Fortunately for you, the system is showing the warranty on this replacement good until 10/18/2016. So that would put you in warranty until 1/18/2017 with the extension.

Wait, wait, wait...
You're telling me that I sent you a new unit I just purchased two weeks before with a ONE-year warranty and your replacing it with a refurbished FIVE-month warranty plus NINETY whole extra days? I also spent countless hours on the phone with almost every person in your support team giving me the same "we don't have any info" answer to every question I asked. I missed so much school because I did not have the PC I paid A LOT of money for and that's your answer?
Played wow at ultra 60+ frames, played GW2 at high 60+ (a little lower around 40-50 in cities) TF2.. well you know. pretty easy to run it on a low end computer, so it did amazing on this thing.
The GPU is the equivalent to a gtx960 desktop version
The thing stays nice and perfect most of the time with gpu and cpu reaching from 32C on standby or regular online activities to 42-52C so the thing is nice and comfortable on your lap
Cons: The speakers on the laptop sound really weird if you haven't updated the BIOS and without updating the BIOS the geforce experince app to update your GPU won't work. so if someones new to the whole PC thing it can be interpreted as DOA (dead on arrival) and sent back to newegg, so they're basically sending back a perfectly good laptop.
the edge below the keyboard is a little too edgy, that could be softened or rounded a little better.
the audio jack is on the right side of the laptop, so if you use a wired headset the wires can get in the way of the mouse.
3-4 hour battery life. I'm not sure if this is a battery technology limitation but yeah, make sure to plug it in every now and again
Other Thoughts: I would definitely recommend this laptop to anyone who wants a really nice smooth running game buffing laptop.
It's really BIG despite how it looks in the picture, so make sure you have a big laptop bag... mine definitely didn't fit into my bag.
Very fast, boots up in 10ish seconds give or take.
very bright screen
backlit (light sensor) kb is really nice in the dark
Full size kb
Sound is good quality
Very well made; very sturdy shell (see cons for weak points)
4 USB Ports is very handy
Screen hinges are stiff and solid, they won't wobble on you
Plenty of space
Plenty of RAM
Copper everywhere with really good air flow.
Num lock key is replaced with ROG Gaming Key
Backlit feature doesn't work until your DT is up
McCafee installed (BALETED)
Key Pad is an unsightly mess after a while. Hands, oils.. it happens folks. The material used for the KB placement is a soft plastic and it picks up your smudges really easy. Nothing that can't be cleaned.
While the rest of the lappy is nice and solid, the support for the keyboard is a little soft. Pressing hard on the keys will cause the keyboard to bend in a bit. But you have to give it a good push. It doesn't do this during standard use. I only noticed it because I grabbed the lap top by that area as I was lifting the lap top off the table.
Mouse pad buttons need a little more umph to register. Not a big deal because I don't use it much.
My down arrow catches on something in the frame; if I hit the very bottom edge of the arrow key it makes a popping sound. Could be just my build, though.
