This machine makes rolling your own perfect cigarettes almost foolproof. If you put in too much tobacco, it will jam forcing you to clear the pathway. I find it handy to keep a bamboo skewer handy for this purpose, which takes about 2 seconds to clear the jam and continue. While the watching the evening news for an hour, I find it easy to roll half a carton of cigarettes. I bought an old empty wooden cigar box which works great to keep the humidity of the cigarettes perfect. For a smooth smoke I prefer a tobacco that is slightly more humid that is easy to roll with a machine. I roll them with the tobacco very dry and then leave the finished cigarettes in the cigar box humidor to adsorb a bit of humidity which produces a very smooth smoke.

I first started rolling my own cigarettes because of cost. This machine will almost pay for itself on the first carton of cigarettes you roll. Using dry multi-purpose "Pipe" tobacco like "Criss Cross" saves a fortune on taxes, since pipe tobacco has very low taxes. It costs me less about $10 per carton for cigarettes that I roll myself. My wife and I both now prefer our RYOs to name brand cigarettes. Comparing the cigarettes we roll ourself to named brand it like comparing a new pack of cigarettes to a pack that has been lying on the dash board of your car for a week in the hot sumer sun.

I have 4 other manual injector that I bought before this one, but this is the absolute best.

I have used this machine for six months now and have no problems at all. works great. All the other machines i have checked, have had negative reviews. This is the only machine with all positve reviews,go ahead and buy it. Note the best tobacco to use should be a dry long cut.The best ones, out of ten i have tried are,
direct buy, golden harvest, smokers outlet ,good stuff.
Since you are going to be using pipe tobacco you will find approximately 2-3 ounces of powdery tobbaco in a 12-16 oz. bag. If you want a good cigarette and want your machine to last do the following. #1 get a tray and a collender. Put about one fourth of the bag in collender over tray and sift out powder. I do this as soon as i open the bag then store all tobacco in a plastic jar. The cigarettes will smoke better and the machine will not bind and jam as other always complain of. I have done over fourty cartons with my machine and have no problems. Works out to be $8 to $9 dollars a carton.

I recieved my Gambler machine 2 days ago from Amazon, and have made about a carton of smokes with it. I like the machine because it is 99% metal and not plastic like the round red Gambler machine. I can't knock the round machine because it has lasted us about 3+ years. We go through about 4 packs per day between the two of us so the machine does get a workout.

So far the new machine works good, but then it's new. If it works and lasts as well as the plastic machine I will be happy. I purchased a Shargio machine between these which is also an all metal machine. It only lasted about a year before it started to crap out on me. I had to go back to the plastic Gambler machine until my new one came.

The irony to my buying a new machine is a friend of mine quit smoking and offered me his Top-O-Matic T2 for free. It's only about a month old. The only drawback is that he offered it to me 2 days after I ordered this one. Oh Well. A free spare is always good to have on hand. Time will tell how long the new Gambler lasts but if it's as good of quality as the plastic Gambler it will survive. The only bad thing about the round plastic machine is that it's made out of mostly plastic which wears out.

10-30-11 Update:
We've used this machine for over a month now and have had no problems with it. I think the problems some have with their machines is that they pack it too tightly which puts too much strain on the machine. I tend to make my cigs a bit looser, not to the point of it not having any tobacco in it, but just not so packed that I can't draw through it.

Overall, I like this maching better than the round plastic Gambler machine just for the fact that it's made out of metal and not all plastic. Just don't over pack it and it should last. So far, so good.

First of all the reason I only gave this machine 4 stars is I can't say I love a machine that makes cigarettes, but it is a quality product. For anyone thinking about buying a machine, I'd say get the Gambler. The reviews say the Top-O Matic 2 is the best but the only difference between these two machines is the price and an orange paint job. They are both made by Republic Tobacco Co.(Top tobacco)and are made from the exact same parts. Mine works great, with no trouble once you get the hang of it.

I have been making my own cigarettes for years and this machine worked great for about a week. The main injector, or spoon is attached to a very flimsy piece of plastic that broke within a week. I attempted to repair it with super-glue and it held together for 2 more days then broke in a diffierent place. The machine is all metal under the plastic cover, but the most important part of it's operation is cheap plastic. I would not recommend it. Buy a Premier Supermatic if you want one that will last.
