This works perfectly, and should work with pretty much any recessed can and trim ring you have except eyeball types. Know that your old trim stays in place and this one completely covers the old trim. So, installation is about as simple as changing a light bulb. Turn out the old bulb, screw in this fixture, screw light bulb into this fixture, and aim the head at your object you want to illuminate and your done. If you have an eyeball type trim, then this product probably won't work for you without first buying an open trim that holds the light socket, or obtaining the socket mounting plate from the recessed can manufacturer. I know this, as I sell lighting products for a wholesale electrical distributor. If you don't get what I'm saying, then call your local electrician to figure it out for you, as it would take too many words for me to explain it here.

As far as the note another reviewer left about being able to use only an R30 bulbs and not accepting PAR lamps, that is going to be the case with all trims. Only certain can and trim combinations are rated for the hot halogen type PAR type lamps. But, with LED taking shape as we speak, you can buy the low wattage, (like the 10 to 20 watt designs), PAR30 or PAR20 LED lamps that offer more beam control and focusing options, (like 10 degree spot for example) and they will work in this fixture just fine. Just keep in mind, it's the heat issue of the 50 watt and higher inefficient halogen or incandescent PAR lamps that prevent you from being able to use them in this, and these inefficient lamps are probably not going to be available anymore in the near future anyway, as LED is taking over for all lighting. The trend is already in place and going strong.

This is a rather clever way to convert a common recessed light can into an adjustable spot extending down from your ceiling at the end of a rod. It is good looking and clean, painted a nice white. Installation is about as easy as screwing in a light bulb. I would give it a much higher rating except for the manufacturers admonition to use only "R" reflector bulb, nothing higher than 75 watts. This certainly limits the performance and "punch" of this light by limiting the many otherwise available bulb options. Use of a narrow spot halogen PAR30, for instance, would make this a true accent light. I suspect the heat these other type bulbs might generate must be a problem and perhaps would eventually discolor the unit. Or perhaps they are just not wired (by virtue of their screw in design) to safely use more intense and hotter bulbs.

Nevertheless, it is a clever design, perfect to highlight a picture on a wall, a shelf or art object, etc. I liked it enough to buy a second one.

Really a great solution for spotlighting the Christmas wreath on the front door. We have can light fixtures in the front porch ceiling, and simply removed the bulb from the fixture immediately in front of the entry door, screwed this fixture in to the bulb socket, and VOILA!! - a spot that looked built-in at the ceiling. I would not hesitate to leave this up year round it is so well constructed. We removed it after the holidays and packed it away with the wreath for next year.

Bought a couple of these to convert some ceiling can lights into picture lights. Simple to install, they do the trick, and I rarely even notice that they are there. They look like the were professionally installed. I just bought two of the smaller R20 size fixtures. Glad I found them on Amazon, as I got far the best price - though I had to wait for nearly a month to get the better price on the R20's.

I used these to cover four downward facing recessed living room floodlights. They were easy to install, but it's usefull the read the instructions about how the screw-in sockets are made to rachet (no, they are not broken!) I installed soft LEDs in them to illuminate photos and other artwork in the living room.

Got them on time and installing them was simple. I would say go for it, it you are interested.. Now if they had different styles of housing to pick from that would be really GREAT!

I like the light but the mechanism that locks the threads is too loose and hard to screw into socket. I had to disable it to make it work.

Much better quality than I expected for the price.
Using LED spots and they are heavy, no problem for
these fixtures. Easy to direct and change direction.
Wish I had more places where the would be useful.
