The reason I bought this computer is so I can load all my music software on my 480 SSD. Well the majority of the space on the 480 SSD was filled with Windows and other software. This defeats the purpose of having the SSD drive. I don't even use the 2TB Hard Drive. They could of loaded the software on the 2TB Hard Drive. I had to order another 480 SSD so I can load all my music software. I called tech support and tried to tell them my concern. I know the SSD is 480, but I didn't want them to use it up. They said what's the problem, it has a 480 SSD. They are too lazy in my book to load system software on the 2GB Hard Drive. If using total storage from an SSD is your goal, then I suggest shopping somewhere else. The tech support guy to get out my calculator and add up the numbers for the software allocated. Yes, all the numbers added up. He said, its simple math. Yes it is, but I didn't want to add up numbers for programs I didn't want factory loaded on my SSD. Then he said, your good, goodbye. He tired to make, me the customer feel like an idiot. He knew what I was getting at and I'm sure he has heard this all before.
This is an amazin Computer, super powerful for Gaming, VM practice labs, and anything that needs power! I played FarCry Primal and it worked really nice. Notice that the product is not full sealed, because they upgrade some parts. The only two things that I would asks, i for more battery life (now is about 40 min -50 min gamming, 2.5 to 3 hours low usage); and the scound is that you need to have more facilities to update drivers, bios and other tolos manually, like the keyboard driver, but overall It's really great computer, not so heavy, like 5 pounds, screen is good, and keyboard is amazing. I'm very happy
Had this for ove a year now. I've had to have it looked at once for a faulty fan other than that just make sure when you game your turn the extra fan speed on or the laptop will easily get really hot. Fans are also very loud at higher speeds. Overall happy with this after coming from a laptop that lagged everywhere in a game.
I'm not a gamer, but I am a "power user" of office and productivity software of all sorts. I had a four-year old VAIO that I had stuffed with memory and a large SSD, and though I looked and looked for a new laptop, the current business and consumer laptops couldn't really do anything I couldn't already do. Then I discovered that the REAL high-end laptops are to be found in the world of gamers. After studying what was available, I had almost decided on an ASUS ROG, but then I found this MSI by Computer Upgrade King.
With lots of RAM (32 GB), a large SSD for the OS (512 GB) and a large HDD for files (2 TB), plus i7 processors and NVIDIA GTX960M video, I decided that MSi offered more for the money than ASUS, and I was curious about what CUK would do with it. I was also very glad to still have an optical drive, and the keyboard lighting, while unnecessary, is very, very cool. And all of this for $400 less than I spent long ago on a 512 Mac!
I agree with others that the speaker system is very nice, and I disagree with those who don't like the etching on the trackpad. I find that it works fine. I do find, though, that it's necessary to hit the space bar just right or else it won't register. That apparently has something to do with gaming. Since I mostly put the computer on a stand and use an external keyboard, though, I can live with that (see photo).
This computer is very fast and should meet my needs for years to come. Given how happy I already was, I was even more pleased when CUK sent me an OUTSTANDING MSi computer backpack, an MSi Steel Series v2 Siberia headset, and several other doodads for no additional charge.
I'm sure this is a fine computer for gaming, as many reviews suggest. It's perfect for my needs as well. I'm a Happy Camper.
P.S. I don't know why the upload insists on posting my photo sideways. The second photo is of the LapWorks Z-Lift on which my computer is sitting. The second photo is not of the MSi computer.
When considering a laptop this is certainly a superb value. I picked up the 32G RAM 512G SSD 2TB HDD one from computer upgrade king and am enjoying the power/dollar ratio I got with this purchase.
Was really disappointed with the laptop because when i received second time the screen was messed up and the laptop wouldn't turn on. Now i can't return it or replace it because i had to fly overseas
