I got my GED back in 2001 and though I did pretty well having this book would have improved my scores. When my sister asked that I get her a book to study for the GED I looked here first, I've always been a fan of the Guides for Dummies and this is another addition to a great line of books.

She hasn't received the book yet as it is a Christmas gift but I have thumbed through the book. They have everything you need to know about the GED from how you sign up for it to an in depth break-down of the tests.Ok, so the book isn't going to teach you everything you need to know but it is going to help you take what you do know and refine it and properly apply it when you take the tests.

Everything is laid out in such an order that you can just pick up the book, start with "A" and once you get to "Z" you're ready to ace the GED. The practice tests are perfect and very true to the form of the GED and you will be pleasantly surprised at what you actually do remember (it's all up there, just need to dust off the brain).

I strongly recommend this book for anyone looking to get a new start with their education. You will not be disappointed, just remember don't give up!

I have been preparing for my GED for quite awhile now and have utilized numerous books. This book was by far the most useless of all. The practice questions we often pointless and the study advice was more common sense than anything else. At the end of the book, they include final practice tests that seem to be more comical than useful. I had a hard time taking the practice tests without criticizing the book consistently. I suggest the Kaplan GED self study guide 2007-2008 edition. At least the Kaplan book seems to take the 5 subjects serious and is successful in treating the reader as if they have a i.q. higher than a newt. Sadly, the GED for Dummies book fails to accomplish this.

We love the "Dummies" series for their humor and easy-to-read-and-understand qualties. This one is no exception. It should be noted, however, that this book is NOT a complete study course, but rather a brush-up review with two full practice tests. The practice tests then have detailed explanations for each question as to why it is the right answer. If you think you basically know the material and just need help preparing for the test itself, this is the book for you, especially if you don't have months to prepare. If you are looking for a full study course, I recommend McGraw-Hill's GED : The Most Complete and Reliable Study Program for the GED Tests. It is a huge, complete book, but the pre-test helps you zone in on the areas you need to study the most.

This book is very helpful and makes the entire experience so easy. I took the test a few years ago and studied this book for a few weeks, practice tests and all. Then I took the test and did exceptionally well. This book is all you need!

The GED book was detailed and easy to understand. The price was cheaper than the big book store, But the book has to be taught. We bought this for our Teenagers who were home schooled. We suggest that you also get the Mcgraw hill with the CD

I bought this book (as you might guess) to study for the GED tests. I have discovered three errors in it to date and I have not finished the book yet. One mistake kept me busy for hours trying to figure out how in the world these answers were arrived at by using the given formula. Come to find out, the formula given is just plain wrong. This goof had me questioning things I had known to be true for the past 30 years. It is still a book worth having but always keep in mind that if you find anything in it that just doesn't seem right that there ARE known mistakes in this book. Don't beat your own brains out trying to find what YOU did wrong like I did. The book could certainly have been better if it had more complete explanations, more detailed illustrations and a wee bit of proof-reading involved in it's making. I am positive that there must be a few more complete and accurate choices to be had out there.
