Side note, there is some yellowed film covering the inside of the lense that must be removed otherwise your vision will be cloudy.
I wear glasses and I'm no small dude so fogging is a significant issue for me. With this mask, I get much better ventilation than with the cheaper versions out there. In fact, in the couple of times I've used it, the shield on this mask does not fog at all. However, my glasses still fog up. That tells me the ventilation is good but not great.
From a protection and comfort standpoint, it's good. If it wasn't for the fogging, I would barely notice it was on. I also took a few shots off of it and it did the job -- didn't feel it at all. It didn't 'bounce' or prevent the paintball from bursting but I don't really expect that.
The one other complaint is somewhat minor -- putting on the visor is a bit of a pain. You MUST remove the lens portion before attempting to put the shield on. I originally attempted it without that key step and I quickly determined that it would take me years to accomplish that without removing the lens. Even after you remove the lens, it's still touchy and it's hard to judge exactly which slot you should put each of the visor pins into. The good news is that after initial assembly, I should never have to do that again. Thus, it's only a minor annoyance.
The quick lens removal system isn't quite as easy as it seems right out of the box, however. The locking pieces were a little stubborn and stiff to pull apart when I first tried to remove the lens, but i'm sure it's one of those things that takes practice to master. It's definitely not as easy as swapping out a Sly or Dye I4 lens though. Temps hit the mid 60s when we were playing, and I did a lot of running around the field that day without even a single bit of fog or condensation on the lens. I don't know how well it will hold up under hotter, more humid conditions, but the ventilation on this mask is quite good.
My biggest complaint is about the head strap. I have a somewhat larger than average head, and the strap is a little tight for me out of the box. It will likely stretch a little as I use it more, but I felt like I was getting a bit of a headache from the tension after a few rounds, and I switched back to my Profits. I may have to mess around with it a little bit though to break the strap in more.
Overall, this is a great mask for the $80 TO $100 price bracket. The foam is sufficiently comfortable, and the lens clarity/viewing angles are excellent. I haven't really been able to torture test this mask under warmer or extremely cold conditions yet to determine if a double pane lens is necessary, but so far so good. The Profiler is a great choice for someone looking to buy their first thermal mask, or for anyone looking for a good backup/loaner who doesn't want to shell out another $100+ for a second mask.
