-Lots of SATA ports

-Does what it says it does, no actual issues with mine so far
-Lots of updates necessary for this to run properly. I've never had to install so many updates one after another in order to use a product I purchased. It took me over 2 hours to get this up to date.
-UEFI BIOS UI and navigation. You can use the mouse to navigate, but it's so incredibly stiff it may as well not be an option. My 7-year old ASUS mobo has a better UEFI BIOS than this.
-RAM speed is set to 2133MHz by default. You MUST enable the XMP profile in the BIOS to allow your RAM to operate at its designated speed.
-Unsure if this will affect others, but if you don't set the CPU Voltage mode to the TURBO profile, it will sometimes lower the voltage to the CPU too quickly, causing a blue-screen crash with the error "CLOCK_WATCHDOG_TIMEOUT". This has only ever happened to me upon booting the computer and shortly after logging into Windows. After setting the profile to TURBO it has not shown this error since.
* BIOS upgrades easily from within the BIOS itself
* Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO fits with my 2 DDR4 sticks. The fit might be a little tight if you've got 4 sticks but I think it's doable.
* Very flexible fan control system with several temperature sensors that can be used to control individual fans.
* The red ambient LEDs on the motherboard can be turned off in the BIOS
* I wish there were more options for tweaking memory speed. As far as I can tell, I can use the XMP profile or not, but I can't adjust the clock multiplier manually. Not a big deal at the end of the day.
I bought this motherboard to replace an identical one that would not turn on after it was accidentally drowned in coffee while powered on. I washed the entire PC down in distilled water, then dried everything in neat isopropanol and left it in a dessicator oven for two days before reassembling it. The motherboard still refused to power up with no peripherals attached, and since it was the least expensive part of the system, I bit the bullet and purchased another one (the price was much improved since my initial purchase).
To my chagrin, the new motherboard wouldn't power up either, so I began the heartbreaking process of isolating the remaining failures, all of which were more expensive to replace, but in the long run, I was able to get both motherboards working, as well as my graphics card, RAM, CPU, and power supply, by clearing the NVRAM multiple times. So I can confidently say that this board can handle at least one beverage without permanent damage. For my trouble, I hence gained both a spare motherboard and the value of an important lesson about liquids and computers.
Being a veteran of the "wait state" era of PCI/VLB/ISA motherboards, I was concerned that this board has PCI and PCIx slots on it, but after researching it a little I am confident that there is no slowdown associated with the multiple bus topologies. All of the PCI slots share one bridge, and the PCIx slots effectively each have their own "bridge" on any board with the Z170 architecture.
I am using this board with an i7 CPU to record and edit music, edit video, and play games like Overwatch and Fallout 4, and with everything on "ultra," my GTX970 is the only bottleneck, which I can totally live with.
I'm using this board with dedicated recording studio hardware, so I did not try out the LED lighting effect. The LEDs are there to showcase the fact that the audio section is isolated mechanically from the bus, and diodes emit audible noise in circuitry, so putting LEDs in the isolation channel kind of defeats the purpose of isolating the audio in the first place. But if you are into that sort of thing, you can set the on-board LEDs to pulsate with music and game/multimedia audio. It's a neat touch, if a little bit gimmicky.
Heat sinks are all spring-mounted and include silicone pads, not "white goop," so disassembling, washing, and reassembling the board is very quick and easy.
Bottom line is, if you like coffee and gaming, and you're a klutz, I definitely recommend this board, but if you just want a good motherboard I still recommend it.

The only complaint I had is that it does NOT come with screws for the board for some reason. Meaning I had to special order some delaying my build by a few days. Which was annoying.
I'm hoping this one will last me just as long.
Word of warning for Windows 10 users. I had a hell of a time getting the LAN network drivers to work. Turns out I needed to update Windows 10 before it would recognize the LAN chipset. It seems like there are different versions of this board? Mine had the INTEL LAN chipset.
The BIOS is new to me. I'm used to the old school blue. But it boots under 4 seconds. The "easy" mode overclock is a nice feature. I did have to put the default fan settings to "quiet" as I found "normal" to be a bit on the loud side. The realtek audio chip is "ok". I do have a backup soundcard in case the onboard sound doesn't perform to my standards. It read my 3000Mhz RAM as 2133, so I did have to make some adjustments there as well.
All in all, great board so far. Having said that, Gigabyte hardware is great but the provided Windows software in the included CD is awful. Don't bother with them. There are much better third party software for providing sys info, fan control and temperature monitoring.
