First time to buy hardware from Amazon and it's easy to get caught out on occasion, thus kudu's to Amazon Support! The "Red Herring" 'Y' connector had me thinking I was one short (two ports, one connector) and quickly attempted an overnight of another, thanks Amazon for canceling the order. My system has PCPower&Cooling PSU 950W I used to write reviews and at the time those were top of the line, Seasonics would be the current selection if I needed one. The six pin block fit the video power port, but I had the additional two pin backwards from the PSU -Obviously that won't fit. Sometimes really simple things just happen.
Powered up the Gigabyte GTX 980 Ti and loaded the Geforce drivers online, did use Guru3D's uninstall driver on my old card drivers first, avoids issues. Ran 3D Mark, got a high whine -It was the power backup Cyber 850 -Unable to handle the load, had to turn the 28" IPS monitor off and wait for completion. First job today is to get a higher rated sinwave power backup unit. I didn't bother with OC software, however if or when I do there is a very good chance I'll use the MSI Afterburner OC software, rather than the provided software.
I found this card met all expectations, trouble free. Be aware that there is a large piece of clear plastic over the card topside of the fans and it would be easy to miss the clear plastic over the fan "Gigabyte" label-If that's not removed it's possible to cause an imbalance/noise.
I'm an old dog, been building systems since 1983 and programing. AMD got me hooked on hardware, learned more than the University education in real world application of overclocking, learning physics however makes life much easier. Now I stick with Intel, speeds hardly an issue anymore. What is important is knowing how to balance a system, just throwing hardware together just won't get it. In the past I built myself a system every three years, this is the first time I have "Upgraded" -Why? Because typically architectural changes require at least three significant changes, this time it was not really necessary. It would have been nice to move into true 40 channel system specs, but that was $2,347 and the gain was not worth this particular upgrade.
Cheers
