    3.0 out of 5 stars Really a MASTER. Beautiful/expensive/HOT memory/rare
    By Q on March 9, 2021
I use to be their #1 cheerleader but no more. Be aware that this line really isn’t the 8pin*3 Extreme. This is an 8pin*2 AORUS MASTER with a waterblock. You are paying extra for “Extreme” Tag name only. If you want a true Extreme with a waterblock, buy the air version and purchase your own waterblock. Gigabyte did a blatant bait & switch with this line. The pre waterblocked 3090 is a beautiful card if you can find it. Under full load my core is 55c. My only wish is that they paid attention to the back of the card more since all 3090’s have 12 gig of memory on the back of the PCB. Besides the metal backplate, there is no cooling for the back of the card. I mine with this card to recoup some of the cost of this very expensive card, and the back of the card would burn my fingers to the touch. Since I was not comfortable with my memory temp exceeding 110c, I purchased a BPC from MP5Works and slapped it on the back of the card and replaced the thermal pads on the memory with quality ones. Mem junction temp is now between 70-78c while mining which is still hot, but manageable. DDR6X memory doesn’t start to fail & throttle until 110c but that isn’t good for your card to stay at constantly, so the further you can stay away from that temp the better. This card has a leak alarm too which is nice, but if I knew it was really a Master before I purchased it, I wouldn’t have. Not cool Gigabyte. They make beautiful equipment and I never had a problem with their motherboards, but with all their other products they cheap out on components and cut corners anywhere they can, and their customer service is HORRIBLE. They have never helped me with any problems and I am always polite so they can’t use that as an excuse. They now have PSUs that catch fire ( look up Gamers Nexus on YouTube) and their new expensive AIOs that stop working properly after a week. I use to be a fanboy for 3 years, but now I see that they are just a $10 prostitute in a $1000 dress & makeup asking you for top dollar. I built my entire family Gigabyte systems, but as parts start to fail, I’ll be replacing them with Asus.
