Top Customer Reviews
Installed this with zero issues (so far). There's already far more informative reviews going into details like the BIOS features, all I can say as a first time, zero experience builder this board was fantastic to work on.
Paired with an Intel I7 6700k. Windows 7 & 10.
Only complaint is the door tag didn't keep the kids out.
Great board, I'll update in a few weeks with further details.
Installation was fairly easier as this wasn't my first build. I just used my existing Samsung 830 SSD and popped it into the case and my system booted up on the first try. I had to install a few drivers but it was easier than I expected. I was a bit worried that I would encounter some memory issues that I researched online before buying the board. The issue was some Z170 motherboards couldn't automatically detect RAM higher than the default 2133 MHz. Luckily my motherboard was able to detect and downclock the RAM and all I had to do was change the XMP profile in the BIOS to gain the full 3000 MHz speed of my RAM. I will monitor the motherboard for any issues but so far its been pretty good.-
Also, I was getting a POST error due to my 2400 Mhz RAM until I took out all but 1 of the RAM sticks and enabled XMP in the BIOS so that I could run all four sticks @ 2400 Mhz.
I would buy it again.
Other than that, though, the board has been pretty great, and if you're using a USB DAC/AMP, there's no issue with the sound.
Gigabyte clearly has quality control issues with this model. Considering how long it takes to assemble and disassemble after you find out your motherboard is bad, 2 bad motherboards out of 3 units is inexcusable. And if yet another motherboard fails, it'll cost me an additional 4hr drive. I regularly buy Gigabyte and never had issues to date, so this is very disappointing.
