This was my first real graphics card, and it gave me a good 2 years of vidya gaemin'. It was powerful, beautiful and overall wonderful.
It wasn't without it's problems, however. After about a year it BSOD'd on me and I had to completely restore my computer because of it. The drivers it came with naturally I guess hard-installed onto my computer. It wasn't until another half-year later that it started to work after a major driver update.
Though it's not available anymore, it was definitely worthy of a review at least.
Rest in peace, Batman5770 GPU.

I needed to upgrade my pc and after looking at the reviews for several cards chose this one. I don't do gaming but instead do photography work and want to start editing recorded video. I was amazed how much better my older LCD screen looked by just adding a video card. It is quite customizable but I have not yet gotten into the various different settings, for what I need it for I'm not sure I have to....maybe later.

The HD 5000 series is a very formidable one. The 5900($600) is an epic card in both performance and size(it's a foot long!) the 5770 is a bit smaller and is just about as epic. For 1/4 of the cost you are not going to get Crysis to run 1920x1200 with 4xAA at a very stable rate.

Maximum PC benchmarked the card and here were the results(the HIS version):
HAWX: 41fps
Far Cry/Action: 38fps
Far Cry/Ranch Long: 43fps
Crysis/DX10: 17fps
STALKER: Clear Skies: 19fps

Those benchmarks were running with all detail levels maxed out and 4xAnti-Aliasing. Anisotropic Filtering was also turned "ON" where available.

The Card still has a great amount of muscle and is a great choice for anyone looking to build a PC like I did, that can play the latest games without sacrificing much of anything.

I play Crysis Warhead Maxed out on Enthusiast with AA turned "OFF" and my resolution is 1360x768 on a 40" LCD HDTV. It looks AMAZING!!! I don't get any frame rate problems.
Similarly I play Assassins Creed 2 which is a beautiful game and that is also maxed out and there are no issues with framerate.

The 5770 comes with ATI software called ATI Catalyst Control Center. It's a simple GUI that allows for tweaking of the card. I use ATI OVERDRIVE to overclock the GPU. I have maxed out the GPU Clock, Memory Clock and Fan and the card stays cool around 39 degrees at idle and 45 degree at load.
GPU Clock- 960Mhz
Memory Clock- 1445Mhz
Fan Speed- 100%
At 100% fan speed the fan does make some noise but it's not unbearable.
I would recommend this card to ANYONE! It's wonderful.

One CON I've heard is that in crossfire the "batmobile" styling of the fan cover makes it a tight fit.

I have been a faithful customer of ATI. This would be my fifth Display card by the company , with one exception a few years back where I selected Nvidea. The card is straight forward to install and configure , Nice vibrant colors , video clips look fantastic. I am not much into gaming , apart from Microsoft Flight Simulator which was very smooth and fast. Very good Video card and well worth the money I paid for. For my use , it is perfect and just the right price.
