Overclocking Made Simple
Overclock with Built-In Performance Tuning and achieve ultra-fast speeds with Turbo B Clock. With adjustment options that range from 90MHz to 500MHz, overclockers are not limited to the 5% ranges of traditional straps.
Enjoy Exhilarating Speeds
Feel the difference with support for DDR4 XMP up to 4333MHz and beyond. The X299 series is also validated to be compatible with 1000+ different memory modules.
With 5 USB3.1 Gen2 ports directly located on the rear I/O, along with 1 front panel USB3.1 header the X299 AORUS Gaming Motherboards are future-proofed.
With twice the bandwidth compared to its previous generation, and backwards compatibility with USB 2.0 and 3.0, the much improved USB 3.1 protocol is available over the new reversible USB Type-C and the traditional USB Type-A connector for better compatibility over a wider range of devices.
Built to Last
GIGABYTE’s patented Ultra Double technology guarantees each X299 motherboard is reinforced to support the heaviest configurations.
The M.2 Thermal Guard also prevents throttling and bottlenecks from each of your three available M.2 devices as it helps to reduce and dissipate heat.
Make It Yours
The X299 AORUS Gaming series now supports RGBW & UV-Light, giving users even more vibrant shades of colors to work with.
The integrated acrylic I/O shield with LED Lighting is a world first feature that gives users the ultimate unique look.
Intelligent Cooling Design
Smart Fan 5 allows users to interchange their fan headers to reflect different thermal sensors at different locations on the motherboard, giviing you absolute mastery over your system.
To support large liquid cooled systems the X299 series even provide a dedicated 3-Amp Pin Header dedicated for water pumps. Users can also achieve complete fan silence with Fan Stop.

There was a problem filtering reviews right now. Please try again later.
I was disappointed by the software and their terrible website from the beginning but it wasn't a deal breaker.
My problems began was when I added a second 1080 Ti into the mix. I was running into strange issues where one card would work and the other wouldn't get recognized or they both would but performance was not what would be expected. I was pulling my hair out trying to figure out what was going on and having a full water loop and adding PCIe extenders into the mix did not make troubleshooting easy. I could get sometimes one card at PCIe 3.0 x8 or maybe both at PCIe 3.0 x4. The best case which is what I have it running at right now is PCIe 3.0 x8 for both cards. I have tried just about every combination of cables/slots/cards/settings I could think of and could never get a single or both cards to run at x16 on any slots. I thought it was probably the extender cables but that is somewhat ruled out when it sometimes gets assigned x4 and sometimes doesn't work at all with either cable or either gpu on random slots.
So keeping in mind that sometimes there are issues from the factory and this could be one comes my big gripe with this Motherboard. The BIOS is near useless for troubleshooting. It is too basic and offers little for viewing what is going on with the PCIe slots and other connections.
Putting together the lack of troubleshooting information in the BIOS, terrible software, terrible website, going through 3 websites and creating 3 different accounts for RMA, and still not hearing back from them after a couple days, I would not recommend anyone go with Aorus/Gigabyte for X299. They are very pretty boards and that is what got me but they are really lacking in other areas.
I am still going to try to RMA this board and probably sell it because I have already ordered another brand's board to replace this one.
I apologize for the rant and if anyone sees this and has any suggestions then I would love to hear them. I just wanted to get this out there to possibly prevent someone else from experiencing this after investing so much into what you expect to be a killer system.
I have tried booting with just the CPU, memory and video card attached (no other components) and the same issue keeps happening. Also tried it without a video card just to see if it would at least POST but that did not work either.
I also noticed when I examined the i9-7920X CPU notch to the FoxConn LGA 2066 socket alignment key. The ones on the left are not aligned. In all the years I have built PCs from scratch this is the first time I've seen this.
I've posted on the Gigabyte X299 forums and opened a Gigabyte eSupport ticket about the issue. I'll have to wait till Monday to call Gigabyte support to find out more so I can have someone on the phone to discuss it.
I'll update this review as I get more information but as of right now I can't recommend this motherboard.
The issue was the CPU. Noticed that the CPU etching is labeled XEON E5-2683 (which is an LGA2011 socket I believe) instead of i9-7920X. I've since returned the CPU and bought a new CPU from NewEgg which arrived today. The new rig booted right away with no POST warnings and the motherboard recognized all of the memory and devices. I've changed the rating for the motherboard to 5 stars since I was mailed the wrong type of CPU.
Amazon please check the contents for your Intel i9-7920X stock because the one I last returned was a XEON CPU. I'm willing to bet the first one I exchanged was also a XEON CPU.
1. Minimum onboard LED.lights: For building a professional workstation, I don't really need fancy LED Lights. For these people who want to add LED lights to their builds, no problem there are several led ports on the motherboard that you can connect your LED light Strip to them. You can even control the lights with an app on the cell phone!
2. I have tons of footage for each of my project, so I need a lot of storage for that. This motherboard has a lot of storage interfaces which meet my need.
3. Thunderbolt 3 Support! This is an important function for a video editor. I sometimes receive a hard drive with only thunderbolt connector.
I highly recommend this motherboard to everyone who wants to build a reliable editing workstation.

I understand that this is more intel's fault than Gigabytes, however there is nothing in the gigabyte manual or website that calls this information out. I would have picked a different motherboard had I known my hard drives would not work in it as I wanted.
