After trying different things for a week, I gave up and returned that RAM and got this one instead: G.SKILL 16GB (2 x 8GB) Ripjaws V Series DDR4 PC4-25600 3200MHz Desktop Memory Model F4-3200C16D-16GVKB . This set of RAM worked the first time I set the XMP profile. The new RAM is rated at 3200mhz instead of 3000mhz, but I am only running it at 3000mhz, haven't bothered to try 3200mhz yet although I probably will at some point.
I've honestly never paid too much attention to approved RAM lists that you can find on motherboard manufacturer websites, this is the first time I had to. I highly recommend getting something off of that list if you get this motherboard, or really any Ryzen 2XXXX board since they're so new and a lot of BIOS are having trouble even recognizing any of the second gen Ryzen CPUs without a BIOS update first. Thankfully that part of the build process went fine, this board immediately recognized my Ryzen 2600x and my Windows 10 install went quickly. Glad I bought this board, it hasn't given me any trouble since I got RAM from the approved list, and my new PC is blazing fast.
I ditched my old Xonar DG soundcard that was part of my old build and just went with onboard audio, since I was dealing with driver issues off and on the past few years. I honestly can't tell much of a difference, although I think this onboard audio can be driven a little bit louder than my Xonar DG. It does tend to have a little distortion when you turn it up REALLY high, but we're talking only at very highest volume. I'm using a separate homemade AMP a friend of mine made.
The only thing that still puzzles me is it lists having a USB Type C connector in the back (which is the little one, not your usual USB 3.0/2.0) however I don't see one for me to plug my Pixel into. Not really a big deal for me either way, but still strange nonetheless.
Specs of this build:
AMD Ryzen 2600x
16GB GSkill 3200mhz RAM (running at 3000mhz)
Gigabyte X470 Aorus Ultra
This happened on the LAST day the board was eligible for returns...figure I had just gotten "lucky" in the silicone lottery and got a bad board, so I took the replacement board from Amazon, instead of the refund. Replacement board booted with original RAM and CPU the first time, no issues.
Since I could not tell what was wrong when since there was no POST and no BIOS initially, also had Amazon send replacement RAM and CPU.
Decided to add replacement RAM (since it was identical and a decent price)...asked Amazon to convert replacement RAM to purchase. Two days later, SAME FREAKING ISSUE...go to restart the computer, it hangs in the windows 10 "restarting" window and won't do anything. After 10-15 minutes of being hung there, I powered off and on again via case button and that dreaded LED cycle starts on the REPLACEMENT board. There is clearly some sort of issue with the BIOS or this board...can't even boot into the back up BIOS. The exact RAM I was using was listed on the Gigabyte QVL list and Crucial also showed it as compatible with this board, so that's not the issue. After about an hour on the phone with amazon tech support (who had nothing else to suggest when I listed all the troubleshooting I had done already), got it set up so I could return the replacement board and RAM as well as the original board and RAM and CPU (and power supply) since there's clearly something in that configuration or maybe it's just the board...hard to say at this point, either way, something is causing this board to freak out and die.
PCPartpicker shows no incompatibility with these components either.
Save your time, look at a different x470 board...<Jedi Mind Trick> This is not the motherboard you are looking for.
All this being said, I will give mad positive props to the various Amazon.com reps who I talked with during the course of this ordeal. They are the real MVPs who made getting things replaced and returned as painless as that experience could be. THANK YOU!
This motherboard is great. I have a Ryzen 2600. Thank to this motherboards ability to blck overclock i basically have a 2600x. Single Core boost of 4ghz and All core boost of 3800ghz.
I currently have 3200mhz Hynix M-die. I can boot with XMP but memory is not stable. It produces errors at 3200mhz. I currently run my ram at 3000mhz at CL16.
This motherboard is great for using Ryzen at stock settings and manipulating the blck clock for higher clocks.
A big con for this motherboard is that there is no LLC.
If you plan on overclocking i recommned the MSI X470 Gaming Plus. That has a great auto LLC setting and UEFI bios. Gigabyte UEFI Bios is horrible for the non experienced user.
Great board i really enjoy it.

Buy this even if you have cheapest processor.(Check compatibility first)
External temp sensor (EC_Temp sensor for measuring case or room temp)
RGB FUSION 2.0.
Approx 5 fan headers.
Check specs on gigabyte website for more info.
Worst thing:-- No screws where provided.
Wifi must have been given at this range.
Since switching over to this motherboard from a B350 I was experiencing blue/black screens of death, lag spikes of the entire system and other forms of irregular activity. Upon attempting to access the motherboards bios after moving one direction, any direction within the bios it would freeze.
Hopefully this will help others out there. Just remember whenever you change hardware Windows 10 especially doesn't like it. Somewhere in your boot sequence that can't be managed or adjusted without a clean install there is a tiny file that shows the hardware it's being configured for. When you change hardware ie. Your Motherboard for example, eventually after many random errors, and crashes your Windows will become unusable. Your mileage may vary but that is the bottom line. Always make sure you are doing a fresh install of Windows with new hardware, that is why partitioning a drive or having a dedicated SSD for just Windows is a great idea. Now, download the BIOS update from Gigabytes website if your PC won't boot, and place it upon a USB. Bring it back to your PC that won't work and update the BIOS from the USB to gain access to a working BIOS on this board again. The software for the RGB and whatnot is complete garbage.
This board deserves a 1 star rating for the trouble it has put me through including memory speeds and other bios tweaks but because it appears to be working somewhat okay now and I can't conclusively say it is the motherboard causing my crashing at this exact time, I will give it a 3 for now. Also these guys won't send you a coupon for future, or money back for the trouble, they just don't have good customer service, in fact I doubt this message will even get a response, so be careful and just buy a better board.
First, the LAN when connected if you don't have installed the driver it has sudden disconnection every 15-30secs, if you did install the driver it only happens when you remove the LAN cable and after loading to the OS it takes a few seconds to be connected.
Second, RGB lighting really looks great, and installed RGB fusion to control the RGB on rams, but couldn't detect for the GPU. Had to uninstall the RGB fusion though cause some games won't run with it. You can still control the lighting in Bios.
It might not be the best, but it still works and we will see any updates could help fix this.
