This is the 11th solo album from the great smooth jazz keyboardist/pianist.
Jeff Karukas began the 2000's riding high on the success of his critically-acclaimed album and #1 radio hit "Nightshift", its follow-up release "Heatwave" and a Best Keyboardist nomination at the National Smooth Jazz Awards.
In 1987 Gregg released his first solo album, The Nightowl, which quickly became a Quiet Storm radio staple.
His string of Top 5 Radio hits includes : "Nightshift", "Girl in the Red Dress" (# 4 from "Looking Up"), the 1993 Summerhouse, "Key Witness" (1991), "Severna Park" from Sound Of Emotion, and his breakout 1998 major label debut Blue Touch.
There are eleven original tracks of mellow instrumental Jazz that are highly polished and accomplished.
It numbers a fantastic bunch of jazz guests such as Rick Braun, Paul Brown, Luis Conte, Russ Freeman, Jessy J., Pat Kelley, Michael O' Neil, Michael Paulo and Ricardo Silveira.
Subtle grooves give Gregg's fine piano solos a free and breezy feel. Highlights are the funkier "Manhattan" and the simmering "Napa Road".
Try also the shuffling Latin tinged tracks "Floating in Bahia" and "Jamba Samba".
This contemporary Smooth Jazz set will appeal not only to Smooth Jazz aficionados, but will also appeal to Soul fans as the slower cut - of which my favourire is the gorgeous "Souk Kisses".

Gregg Karukas has made his most personal and possibly his most ambitious and outstandingly project until this date.

Literally there isn't a minor track all the way through. The CD initiates with a snapping theme "Manhattan", then comes my favorite song "Daylight", "Jamba Samba" is possibly the most exciting and optimistic theme of the album. There are also soft inspirational ballads such as "Soul kisses" and "Believe in me."

Karukas has recorded the most emblematic and top smooth jazz album of the year. And I make this personal statement being aware we are just in the first third stage of the year.

Inspiring, awesome and fantastic album that well deserves from you all the efforts in order to acquire it.

A true jewel of the crown in your personal collection.

Gregg Karukas has an exceptional talent for making his music interesting by dropping into his arrangements a wide variety of brief musical tones that have a positive vibe that adds character and color to his well crafted melody lines. Every musical detail of each musical instrument is timely placed to build the emotion of the song and comes thru the mix with excellent clarity. From my view point as a retired recording engineer / songwriter and my broad musical taste from blue grass to classical, I find all of Gregg's work on his GK album starting with the song, arrangement, performance and mixing has served the purpose for which I think he intended - smooth easy to listen to jazz. Gregg has consistently provided quality music to the public throughout his music career with superbly arranged and performed melodies on all of his albums. If you're looking for smooth jazz that is full of emotion, tasteful, and creative I think Gregg is the man - if you're looking for something raw and extreme, then Gregg's music is probably not what you're looking for.

I`ve been a Gregg Karukas fan for many years-his instrumental pieces are almost always very well conceived and totally stand out in the genre of smooth jazz.Even his first cd "You`ll know it`s me" is incredible and not dated at all.Without mentioning any names-i can say that a family member and his cohorts-who are all accomplished "straight ahead" jazz musicians generally hate "smooth jazz" and basically consider it a four letter word-but they like gregg`s music a lot though i think a few bury the cd`s like i did in college with my Carpenter`s albums!! Enough said!

Perfectly ambient flowing melodical groove, an exclusive, almost treacherously, fresh easiness combined with a genuine artistical craftmanship. The compositions are superbly suited along with elaborated and highly interesting patterns and great, great, great epic-lyrical melodies which unquestionably must have a healthy effect to anyone to be exposed to and surely pours life into those who listen. I love this and I live this. This comes as natural as breathing air. What strikes me when I try to be objective is that this musical lifeblood keeps on spinning and streaming over and over again - for days, weeks and now even months - and it tends spread it's healing ambience in the kitchen, in the car, in the living room, at work, in the mp3 headphones, in my mind... even to the people around me. This is home!
