Mixer Output to Installed System's "iPod/Aux" Input

I run a small sound and event production business. This cable works perfectly for those occasions where we need to connect from our mixer to the house speaker system. House systems in hotels and places like that usually don't have a proper line input (XLR), but they often have an 3.5mm iPod input. If we keep the output gain on our mixer a bit low, we can effectively tap into the house system using this cable. It's well made and sturdy, like other GLS cables I own. And it's actually wired exactly as we'd want for this particular application -- XLR pin 2 outputs to both the L and R of the 3.5mm, and pins 1 and 3 are tied to ground. (We're not trying to sum with it - we're splitting the audio.) It's not a balanced connection, but at 6 feet long we've never had a problem. A 3.5mm connection is certainly not ideal for a critical connection like this, but when that's the only way into the system, we count on this cable.

I'm not a techie by any means and often get tangled up trying to get my iPhone to play through my headphones, but this cord seems to be well-constructed and of good quality. I would recommend this product without reservation. I haven't had any issues with the cord itself, and would give the product a full five stars but for one problem - and that may very well be user error...

I've got my bass guitar plugged into a rolls PM351 Personal Monitor Station , with an input coming from either my computer or an iPhone, a mixed output to a set of earbuds, and my instrument going through the GLS cable to my iMac's audio input. When I record (using Adobe Audition) the signal from my bass is very weak. That's my only problem with the cord, and, again, it's probably NOT the cord, but rather the way I'm using it that's the issue - I'm just not smart enough to know exactly what's going on.

So a few months ago I had bought a mic that was on sale and found that the cable provided had a few loose wires that were not soldered properly. Since I had no real experience with fixing cables in general and did not want to waste time trying to fix the cable especially while underequipped in skills and basic tools, I opted to research and buy a new cable.

So far, the cable has not failed on me. I picked this particular one cause the way the "housing" for the mic end is made looked firm enough to protect the wires inside while also allowing to be flexable, which I'm glad to say is working. The previous cable did not a have a housing that held the cable in place so it was moving around and eventually weakened the connection inside to the point of the wires snapping off.

All in all, GLS provided me with a great cable.

Just what I needed to connect a XLR dynamic microphone to my Roland R-05 digital recorder.

I have a Roland R-05 digital recorder that I use for "man on the street" interviews when I'm at shows and conferences. There are times when it'd be better to have a microphone at hand, rather than shoving a digital recorder (with onboard microphone) in somebody's face. With than in mind, I was on the lookout for a cable to connect an external XLR microphone to the recorder. I used the GLS Audio 6ft 1/8" TRS Stereo to XLR Female cable to connect my Samson Q8 Professional Dynamic Vocal Microphone to the recorder. I did a test recording and was very pleased with the audio quality. The cable and connectors are of good quality construction, so I expect to have this one around for a long time.

One added bonus is that the cable came with two velcro straps/ties. You can never have enough of these when you take equipment and cables on the road.

Highly recommended. My rating is 5 out of 5 stars!

Great cord - if it's NOT for MacBook Air

Excellent little cord! It plugs in nicely to my Shure microphone. The only thing I would warn all of you buyers: the new Apple MacBook Air CANNOT RECEIVE INPUT VIA THE HEADPHONE JACK. So, if you own a MacBook Air (like I do), you will need to buy a USB converter. I happened to have one lying around the house. The only downside to this is that the more converters you have, usually the more static. But, it's the only way I've found it works, and the sound quality is still pretty darn good. I have, however, tried it in my dad's MacBook Pro, which has input via the headphone jack, and the sound quality is amazing. If you A) have a macbook pro, or anything that receives input via headphone jack, or B) don't mind using a usb converter, I strongly suggest you click "add to cart"!

This XLR to 1/8-inch cable worked perfectly for my needs, and saved me quite a bit of money. My task at hand was to use my HTC Incredible 2 Android smartphone with a high-end Shure microphone to record some audio books. This cable was pretty much exactly what I needed. Due to some interesting assumptions made by the phone, I had to "jump start" the Android OS into thinking I had a headset with microphone, but once the OS was happy, so was I. The recordings came out exceedingly clear.

As with any low-level, mic-level signal, be sure to avoid running the cable along side of any AC power cords or you may introduce a bit of 60 Hz hum. There may be professionally shielded cables for five times the price, but if you're reasonably careful about isolating low-level cables (like this one) from noisy power cords, you'll be fine.

This is exactly what I needed. I produce a cable TV program taping live music events. I often have an opportunity for quick interviews and this cable allows me to jack my XLR microphone directly into the camera's audio input without additional setup. Even the small velcro straps the cable comes with is handy since I will anchor some hanging cable to the tripod leg to further avoid the 1/8" Mini Jack from disengaging from the camera's input (plus I know where they are when I store the cable away). If I need additional length for the interview I simply attach another XLR cable to this jack and then attach to the camera.

Bear in mind that I don't know anything about cables. All I know is that I have a Marantz microphone connected to a 48V phantom power supply, and I needed a cable to go from the power supply to my Nikon D5300 camera. I didn't know if this would work. It did!

I'm happy with this cable. But next time I think I'll get a right-angle cable. This one sticks out of my Nikon and impedes my view somewhat of the monitor.
