Rebuilt reconfigured my sound rack in-between tours this year. Pulled countless unnecessary feet of old black cord, marked w/ sticky duct tape and electrical tape. Added an Ebtech Hum Eliminator (8 Channel XLR) and used these GLS cables to help keep everything straight. They sound great, and the color coding makes life so much easier. I actually ordered GLS Audio 6ft Patch Cable Cords - XLR Female To 1/4" TRS Color Cables - 6' Balanced Snake Cord - 6 PACK ,GLS Audio 6ft Patch Cable Cords - 1/4" TRS To 1/4" TRS Color Cables - 6' Balanced Snake Cord - 6 PACK, and GLS Audio 6ft Patch Cable Cords - XLR Male To 1/4" TRS Color Cables - 6' Balanced Snake Cord - 6 PACK. Been happy w/ al of these GLS cords. They are easy to coil and the connectors feel sturdy and come in and out easily. The only bummer was finding that they offer a 2' patch cable as well. I've already wired the 3's in so I'm not going to worry about it. Good cable, good value, good sound.
I like them so much I will be buying more.
The color variety makes it easy to tell what goes where. I decided on the scheme that channel 1 starts with the lightest color and the last channel the darkest. No labeling required.
Have no idea why Amazon uses the word "snake"in the description of these patch cables. These are six independent cables and are not connected together in a common jacket ( the usual configuration of a "snake").
Good music to all!
Now. These cables are extremely rubbery. Very strong. Very flexible. The soldering is done properly on the wire to connection side of things, which is important, no snapping.
The cables have a great feel, and are very very brightly colored.
You may think because of the price, or if you've never heard of GLS like myself, here's the thing. Don't believe the hype of "Professional Cables". The audio-phile stuff is marketing hype. These are fantastic. Will give you full sound, won't break.
Perfect for patching gear.
Great for Audio Interface to Monitor setups. Output from a Mixer to Input of Audio interface (for you computer people).
Plus you get 6 of them. No crunch in the sound, I stress tested one of the cables to see if I could really buy more in the near future, so it was worth the test. Didn't break connection at all.
They also wrap really well.
This specific seller, I would go with hands down, because of how prompt they were to ship. Of course shipping depends on MANY factors outside of the sellers hands, but from their end, they were very speedy, and the price is proper.
I don't have the money to just waste on anything. So this review was important for me to write, being that 70% of people doing music are on a budget similar to mine.
<1> Made in China and not California. (Yes, they are. Read the stamp on each cable if you don't believe me.)
<2> Sloppy solder contacts. I had to rewire a bunch of these to have 90 degree Amphenol contacts on one side. I had to redo their soldering jobs on about 1/4 of them. Technically the cables worked without having to fix them. But I didn't think they would hold out and that they would fail eventually unless I fixed them.
<3> These will clearly not hold up if you use them a lot, bend them, walk on them, or etc. I'm using them on a static guitar pedal board.
I'll buy them again but only if I don't need something that is tough.
