Pros...
cheap
tank like
rich audio quality
Cons...
on off switch? (this might be a problem for some "handsy" singers)
The following link (https://clyp.it/g4lvbndn) is a demo of the album I recently released. On all the songs but the ones with the following lyrics I used this mic for Vocals...
"I need you to know..."
"And I will be the change..."
I think this mic is comparable in quality to the "Industry standard". It sounds equalized but still rich. I don't think there is a better new, live mic for less then 50 dollars. email me if you have any questions or would like sound files of this mic. I would be more then happy to help.

Like a 58, this mic has a foam-filled basket, and it’s easy to unscrew the basket (you’ll notice Teflon threads...definitely not Shure build quality) and if you’re careful with a jewelers screwdriver you can reversibly pull out the foam. This will take the veil off the top end (you’ll be amazed at the difference with no basket at all, which will also open up the low end if you’re willing to risk a $25 mic flying bare) and to my ears give a much more natural presentation than a foam veil. I mean *any* equalizer is likely to be better than foam if you want to roll off the brights.
The capsule assembly is just sitting in the body as a rubber cylinder, pull this out and there’s a lot of hot glue inside but I can’t see if there’s a transformer encased in there. The switch is annoying and pops, but this switched version currently is $25, while the 57 version is $40, so I saved the $15 and ended up with what’s likely the same sound.
I may use it on snare and guitar cab but I won’t sing through it so no worry about the lack of foam. I did find this mic overall better than the $12 Pyle 78 57 clone, even putting a transformer in those. But those do sound a bit more like an sm57.
I used at band practice last night. Again, it was crisp and clear. It kept up with the other Shure mics that the bandmates were using.
I swapped the GLS out for my SM57 and the 57 was muddier. Given that I get 3 of these microphones for the same price as one Shure, I picked up a couple more.
This microphone feels about as heavy and solid as the Shure. Consider me a fan.
