Doesnt work. I'm not certain if mine was DOA, but given the impossibility of determing the "right" drivers for this, i consider this a junk product. I use an expresscard tv-tuner, and network adapter without problems in my laptops. I could not get this USB3 adapter to work after 4 hours of desperate troubleshooting.

Tested on 2x windows-7 x64 laptops. Both laptops see the card, none of them accept the drivers which came on the provided disk, nor any of the various drivers i've tested from internet forums/reviews/etc.

I like this card for it's performance and that is really what counts most. However, there is a flaw...this card does not lock in too well in the express slot. A problem I don't have with other express cards I use (eSATA, USB 2.0, external video adapter,....). If the cable from the card to the device is pulled in any fashion without having pressure to hold the card in it will come out quite easily. This doesn't occur alot which is why I don't deduct for it, but when it does it is irritating and something they might want to look into fixing. I haven't had to use any external power on any of the USB 3.0 external drives I have used thus far, so it is good in single cable operation for power and data. As stated in the title the card manages to reach the limits of USB 3.0 specificied speeds without any issues...a huge improvement from USB 2.0.

I have an Early 2008 Macbook Pro running OSx 10.9 Mavericks, all patches and updates and an SSD. Read through the reviews and tried the drivers suggested with kext wizard and whatnot, but those didn't work for me. I searched around Google and was able to find drivers that worked from a similar product, by a company called Oyendigital. Found it on a MacRumors forum.

Takes a bit of time to get it working but once it is working it adds 2 usb 3.0 ports to my laptop.

Pros.
Fast transfers. Full 110 MB/S on a usb 3.0 enclosure and Western digital 7200 rpm 1 tb drive
Flush mounted...looks native.
Cheap

Cons
Slides out of expresscard port easy
Cannot hot swap. At least not the way I set it up. You have to boot up with card in for osx to see it.

Great card if you can get it working. I used multibeast to install generic usb 3 driver. Then I replaced my pciofamily kext with the mountain lion version. Then I downloaded caldigit usb 3 driver installed it. Then replaced the 2 caldigit added kexts with the ones from asmedia. It's it. It works after that. Nice and cheap...must have for all 17in macbook owners.

I purchased this USB 3.0 Express card and it works sometimes. I tried to install this card twice and got the same thing. Every time I would reboot the laptop the card operated and one third of the speed. The only way to make it work was to shutdown the laptop, remove the card and fully boot up, then insert the card. This of course was not proper operation at all so I contacted Gigacity_amn so I could return this card. They told me that I would have to pay for return shipping. So I asked them for a prepaied return shipping label and they flat out refused to provide one. This whole transaction was only $13.98 including shipping. One would have though that a business would want to keep customers happy but that was not the case. It amassed me that they would risk a bad review for $13.98. Gigacity_amn has made this one of the worst buying experiences I have ever had on any on-line site. Do yourself a favor and steer clear of Gigacity_amn and all of it's very cheap junky Chinese products. I did purchase another card from a reliable source and what do you know, it works fine. Again please do yourself a big favor and stay away from Gigacity_amn and anything they sell!

Device is great and the USB Transfer speed is very good.

however there are still some issues to consider:
first of all it does not stay in the socked, it comes out with USB stick (it might be the problem of my laptop)
when plugged in it sticks out for about 10 mm from the laptop edge which is kinda uncomfortable but still OK for me.

because of those issues i give 4 stars to it, otherwise it would get all 5.

My two year old Sony Vaio F series laptop only came with three USB 2.0 ports, so you could imagine my frustration at times. I stumbled across this product and decided, eh, why the hell not, I could use a couple of more USB ports, especially 3.0 ports. And since my laptop has a 34mm expresscard slot, it was perfect. It was also important it the expresscard's ports didn't stick out like a sore thumb. After I received it, I popped it right in. The expresscard clicks in and clicks out like a SD card almost. After a few minutes of searching around the internet, I was able to find the drivers that work; once they were installed, the 3.0 ports work just as fine. As for speed, I cannot test it as I do not have any 3.0 cords or products that write that fast, but for now I am satisfied. In addition, in my vaio laptop it does have a little over hang of about 2mm, but not a problem really. Also the card tends to come out when you, say insert flash drive and pull it out, but I don't find this to be terribly cumbersome. All in all, adds USB expandibility to laptops that need it at an affordable price.

If you are not a nerd,... R U N . A W A Y ! ! !

If you are a nerd, then hello. Also, my monitor is bigger than yours. OK,..moving on. We're together in this battle for CHEAP hardware that performs well! Read the other reviews that point you to the drivers for this thing (mac/pc). Install the drivers BEFORE inserting the card and all will be fine.
Once I got the USB 3 card up and running I had a small nerdgasm. Not huge mind you, just, you know, like that feeling when a blast of cool breeze hits you on a really hot day.

Pro's:
Very inexpensive solution to upgrage your system to USB 3.
Actually works!
Is flush against the side of the macbookpro and doesn't stick out.
Got it working on both OSX and Windows 7 (bootcamp'd)

Con's:
Install is a real pain without a nerd, so have one handy. If one is not available, drive your truck to a nearby computer store. Nerds usually hang out in front looking for jobs that pay under the table.
Inserting a usb connector into the card causes it to eject from the expresscard slot.

Recognized in Windows 10 with no need to install drivers. Very snug as others have said. I am using it in my Lenovo Thinkpad T420 with no problem. If you push it all the way in it will stay and not click back out to eject. I had to get a pair of pliers to grip the little verticle column at the center of the card to pull it out.

My Dell Latitude E-4300 only has two USB 2.0 ports and one of this doubles as eSATA port. Once installed it's almost flushed along the edge of the notebook. Approx 60% faster than onboard USB2.0 from my simple timed testing copyinging large folders (30GB each) of documents, pictures, audio, and video clips to an ADATA Classic CH11 USB3.0 1TB external drive. With the GMYLE'S two USB3.0/2.0 ports I got rid of my USB2.0 multiplexer dongle. This is a push-in/push-out card. Inserting this GMYLE in the 34mm port is easy and removing it is easier which require careful insertion of the USB device. Windows 7 found the driver on the bundled driver min-CD and worked fine. I'm thinking of using a glue-gun and permanently seal this baby on the notebook. For less than $15, this unit is better than buying a multi-port USB2.0 multiplexer
